having become so much better than the angels, as He has inherited a more excellent (A)name than they.

For to which of the angels did He ever say,

(B)You are My Son,
Today I have begotten You”?

And again,

(C)I will be a Father to Him
And He shall be a Son to Me”?

And [a]when He again (D)brings the firstborn into [b](E)the world, He says,

(F)And let all the angels of God worship Him.”

And of the angels He says,

(G)Who makes His angels winds,
And His ministers flaming fire.”

But of the Son He says,

(H)Your throne, O God, is forever and ever,
And the scepter of uprightness is the scepter of [c]Your kingdom.
(I)You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness;
(J)Therefore God, Your God, has (K)anointed You
With the oil of gladness above Your companions.”

10 And,

(L)You, Lord, in the beginning founded the earth,
And the heavens are the works of Your hands;
11 (M)They will perish, but You remain;
(N)And they all will wear out like a garment,
12 (O)And like a mantle You will roll them up;
Like a garment they will also be changed.
But You are (P)the same,
And Your years will not come to an end.”

13 But to which of the angels has He ever said,

(Q)Sit at My right hand,
(R)Until I put Your enemies
As a footstool for Your feet”?

14 Are they not all (S)ministering spirits, sent to render service for the sake of those who will (T)inherit (U)salvation?

So he became superior to the angels, just as the name he inherited is more excellent than theirs.(A)

The Son Superior to Angels

For to which of the angels did he ever say,

You are my Son;
today I have become your Father,[a][b]

or again,

I will be his Father,
and he will be my Son?[c](B)

Again, when he[d] brings his firstborn into the world,(C) he says,

And let all God’s angels worship him.[e](D)

And about the angels he says:

He makes his angels winds,[f]
and his servants[g] a fiery flame,[h](E)

but to[i] the Son:

Your throne, God,
is forever and ever,
and the scepter of your kingdom
is a scepter of justice.(F)
You have loved righteousness
and hated lawlessness;
this is why God, your God,
has anointed you
with the oil of joy(G)
beyond your companions.[j][k]

10 And:

In the beginning, Lord,
you established the earth,
and the heavens are the works of your hands;(H)
11 they will perish, but you remain.
They will all wear out like clothing;(I)
12 you will roll them up like a cloak,[l]
and they will be changed like clothing.
But you are the same,
and your years will never end.[m](J)

13 Now to which of the angels has he ever said:

Sit at my right hand
until I make your enemies your footstool?[n](K)

14 Are they not all ministering spirits sent out to serve those who are going to inherit salvation?(L)
