⁷ Remember ^(A)your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and ^(B)imitate their faith.

¹⁷ Obey ^(A)your leaders and submit to them, ^(B)for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to ^(C)give an account. ^(D)Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you.

¹⁷ Brothers, ^(A)join in imitating me, and keep your eyes on those who walk ^(B)according to the example you have in us. ¹⁸ For ^(C)many, of whom I have often told you and now tell you ^(D)even with tears, walk as enemies of the cross of Christ. ^19 (E)Their end is destruction, ^(F)their god is their belly, and ^(G)they glory in their shame, with ^(H)minds set on earthly things.

⁸ But even if we or ^(A)an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, ^(B)let him be accursed. ⁹ As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, ^(C)let him be accursed.

¹⁰ For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying ^(D)to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a ^(E)servant^[a] of Christ.
