The Father’s Discipline
4 (A)You have not yet resisted [a](B)to the point of shedding blood in your striving against sin. 5 And you have forgotten the exhortation which is addressed to you as sons,
“(C)My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the [b]Lord,
Nor (D)faint when you are reproved by Him;
6 (E)For those (F)whom the [c]Lord loves He disciplines,
And He flogs every son whom He receives.”

4 You have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your[a] blood as you[b] struggle against sin. 5 And have you completely forgotten the exhortation which instructs you as sons?
“My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline,
or give up when you are corrected by him.
6 For the Lord disciplines the one whom he loves,
and punishes every son whom he accepts.”[c]
