The Unshaken Kingdom

25 See to it that you do not refuse [to listen to] Him who is speaking [to you now]. For if those [sons of Israel] did not escape when they refused [to listen to] him who warned them on earth [revealing God’s will], how much less will we escape if we turn our backs on Him who warns from heaven?(A) 26 His voice shook the earth [at Mount Sinai] then, but now He has given a promise, saying, “Yet once more I will shake not only the earth, but also the [starry] heaven.”(B) 27 Now this [expression], “Yet once more,” indicates the removal and final transformation of all those things which can be shaken—that is, of that which has been created—so that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.(C) 28 Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, and offer to God pleasing service and acceptable worship with reverence and awe; 29 for our God is [indeed] a consuming fire.(D)

The Unshaken Kingdom

25 (A)See to it that you do not refuse Him who is (B)speaking. For (C)if those did not escape when they (D)refused him who (E)warned them on earth, [a]much less will we escape who turn away from Him who (F)warns us from heaven. 26 And (G)His voice shook the earth then, but now He has promised, saying, “(H)Yet once more I will shake not only the earth, but also the heaven.” 27 This expression, “Yet once more,” denotes (I)the removing of those things which can be shaken, as of created things, so that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. 28 Therefore, since we receive a (J)kingdom which cannot be shaken, let’s [b]show gratitude, by which we may (K)offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe; 29 for (L)our God is a consuming fire.
