A Kingdom That Cannot Be Shaken

¹⁸For you have not come to ^(A)what may be touched, a blazing fire and darkness and gloom and a tempest ¹⁹and ^(B)the sound of a trumpet and a voice whose words ^(C)made the hearers beg that no further messages be spoken to them. ²⁰For they could not endure the order that was given, ^(D)“If even a beast touches the mountain, it shall be stoned.” ²¹Indeed, ^(E)so terrifying was the sight that Moses said, “I tremble with fear.”

¹⁸^(A)For you have not come to ^(B)a mountain that can be touched and to a blazing fire, and to darkness and gloom and whirlwind, ¹⁹and to the ^(C)blast of a trumpet and the ^(D)sound of words, which sound was such that those who heard ^(E)begged that no further word be spoken to them. ²⁰For they could not ^[a]cope with the command, “^(F)If even an animal touches the mountain, it shall be stoned.” ²¹And so terrible was the sight, that Moses said, “^(G)I am terrified and trembling.”
