²⁷ By faith ^(A)he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured as seeing Him who is invisible.

The Heavenly Hope

¹³ These all died in faith, ^(A)not having received the ^(B)promises, but ^(C)having seen them afar off ^[a]were assured of them, embraced them and ^(D)confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

^18 (A)while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

By Faith We Understand

11 Now faith is the ^[a]substance of things hoped for, the ^[b]evidence ^(A)of things not seen.

¹⁴ Then he said, ^(A)“Who made you a prince and a judge over us? Do you intend to kill me as you killed the Egyptian?”

So Moses ^(B)feared and said, “Surely this thing is known!” ¹⁵ When Pharaoh heard of this matter, he sought to kill Moses. But ^(C)Moses fled from ^[a]the face of Pharaoh and dwelt in the land of ^(D)Midian; and he sat down by ^(E)a well.

¹¹ Indeed ^(A)we count them blessed who ^(B)endure. You have heard of ^(C)the perseverance of Job and seen ^(D)the end intended by the Lord—that ^(E)the Lord is very compassionate and merciful.

¹⁷ Now to ^(A)the King eternal, ^(B)immortal, ^(C)invisible, to ^[a]God ^(D)who alone is wise, ^(E)be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.

¹⁰ And when Pharaoh drew near, the children of Israel lifted their eyes, and behold, the Egyptians marched after them. So they were very afraid, and the children of Israel ^(A)cried out to the Lord. ^11 (B)Then they said to Moses, “Because there were no graves in Egypt, have you taken us away to die in the wilderness? Why have you so dealt with us, to bring us up out of Egypt? ^12 (C)Is this not the word that we told you in Egypt, saying, ‘Let us alone that we may serve the Egyptians’? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than that we should die in the wilderness.”

¹³ And Moses said to the people, ^(D)“Do not be afraid. ^(E)Stand still, and see the ^(F)salvation^[a] of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall ^(G)see again no more forever.

⁸ And ^(A)all these your servants shall come down to me and bow down to me, saying, ‘Get out, and all the people who follow you!’ After that I will go out.” ^(B)Then he went out from Pharaoh in great anger.
