35 Do not, therefore, abandon that boldness of yours; it brings a great reward. 36 For you need endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what was promised.(A) 37 For yet
“in a very little while,
the one who is coming will come and will not delay,(B)
38 but my righteous one will live by faith.
My soul takes no pleasure in anyone who shrinks back.”(C)
39 But we are not among those who shrink back and so are lost but among those who have faith and so preserve our souls.(D)

35 So do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you! 36 Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that he has promised.
37 “For in just a little while,
the Coming One will come and not delay.
38 And my righteous ones will live by faith.[a]
But I will take no pleasure in anyone who turns away.”[b]
39 But we are not like those who turn away from God to their own destruction. We are the faithful ones, whose souls will be saved.
