One Sacrifice of Christ Is Sufficient
10 For the Law, since it has only (A)a shadow of (B)the good things to come and not the [a]form of those things itself, [b]can (C)never, by the same sacrifices which they offer continually every year, (D)make those who approach perfect. 2 Otherwise, would they not have ceased to be offered, because the worshipers, having once been cleansed, would no longer have had (E)consciousness of sins? 3 But (F)in [c]those sacrifices there is a reminder of sins every year. 4 For it is (G)impossible for the (H)blood of bulls and goats to take away sins. 5 Therefore, (I)when He comes into the world, He says,
“(J)You have not desired sacrifice and offering,
But (K)You have prepared a body for Me;
6 (L)You have not taken pleasure in whole burnt offerings and offerings for sin.
7 (M)Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come
(It is written of Me in (N)the scroll of the book)
To do Your will, O God.’”
8 After saying above, “(O)Sacrifices and offerings and (P)whole burnt offerings and offerings (Q)for sin You have not desired, nor have You taken pleasure in them” (which are offered according to the Law), 9 then He [d]said, “(R)Behold, I have come to do Your will.” He takes away the first in order to establish the second. 10 By [e]this will, we have been (S)sanctified through (T)the offering of (U)the body of Jesus Christ (V)once for all time.
11 Every priest stands daily ministering and (W)offering time after time the same sacrifices, which (X)can never take away sins; 12 but He, having offered one sacrifice (Y)for [f]sins (Z)for all time, (AA)sat down at the right hand of God, 13 waiting from that time onward (AB)until His enemies are made a footstool for His feet. 14 For by one offering He has (AC)perfected (AD)for all time those who are [g]sanctified. 15 And (AE)the Holy Spirit also testifies to us; for after saying,
16 “(AF)This is the covenant which I will make with them
After those days, declares the Lord:
I will put My laws upon their hearts,
And write them on their mind,”
He then says,
17 “(AG)And their sins and their lawless deeds
I will no longer remember.”
18 Now where there is forgiveness of these things, an offering for sin is no longer required.
A New and Living Way
19 Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we (AH)have confidence to (AI)enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus, 20 by (AJ)a new and living way which He inaugurated for us through (AK)the veil, that is, through His flesh, 21 and since we have (AL)a great priest (AM)over the house of God, 22 let’s (AN)approach God with a [h]sincere heart in (AO)full assurance of faith, having our hearts (AP)sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies (AQ)washed with pure water. 23 Let’s hold firmly to the (AR)confession of our (AS)hope without wavering, for (AT)He who promised is faithful; 24 and let’s consider how (AU)to [i]encourage one another in love and (AV)good deeds, 25 not abandoning our own (AW)meeting together, as is the habit of some people, but (AX)encouraging one another; and all the more as you see (AY)the day drawing near.
Christ or Judgment
26 For if we go on (AZ)sinning willfully after receiving (BA)the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a terrifying expectation of (BB)judgment and (BC)the fury of a fire which will consume the adversaries. 28 (BD)Anyone who has ignored the Law of Moses is put to death without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29 (BE)How much more severe punishment do you think he will deserve (BF)who has trampled underfoot the Son of God, and has regarded as unclean (BG)the blood of the covenant (BH)by which he was sanctified, and has (BI)insulted the Spirit of grace? 30 For we know Him who said, “(BJ)Vengeance is Mine, I will repay.” And again, “(BK)The Lord will judge His people.” 31 It is a (BL)terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the (BM)living God.
32 But remember (BN)the former days, [j]when, after being (BO)enlightened, you endured a great (BP)conflict of sufferings, 33 partly by being (BQ)made a public spectacle through insults and distress, and partly by becoming [k](BR)companions with those who were so treated. 34 For you (BS)showed sympathy to the prisoners and accepted (BT)joyfully the seizure of your property, knowing that you have for yourselves (BU)a better and lasting possession. 35 Therefore, do not throw away your (BV)confidence, which has a great (BW)reward. 36 For you have need of (BX)endurance, so that when you have (BY)done the will of God, you may (BZ)receive [l]what was promised.
37 (CA)For yet in a very little while,
(CB)He who is coming will come, and will not delay.
38 (CC)But My righteous one will live by faith;
And if he shrinks back, My soul has no pleasure in him.
39 But [m]we are not among those who shrink back to destruction, but of those who have faith for the safekeeping of the soul.

Ofiara Chrystusa—raz na zawsze
10 Prawo Mojżesza jest tylko zapowiedzią nadchodzącej rzeczywistości. Dlatego składane co roku ofiary nigdy nie będą w stanie w doskonały sposób oczyścić tych, którzy je przynoszą. 2 Gdyby to było możliwe, ludzie przestaliby je składać, bowiem przynosząc jedną ofiarę, raz na zawsze oczyściliby się z grzechów i nie mieliby już poczucia winy.
3 Jest jednak zupełnie inaczej—coroczne ofiary przypominają ludziom o popełnionych grzechach. 4 Niemożliwe jest bowiem, aby krew zwierząt ofiarnych mogła oczyścić ludzi z win. 5 Właśnie dlatego Chrystus, przychodząc na świat, powiedział:
„Nie chciałeś ofiar ani darów,
ale przygotowałeś mi ciało.
6 Nie zadowalały Cię ofiary całopalne
i ofiary za grzechy.
7 Wtedy powiedziałem:
Boże, oto przychodzę wypełnić Twoją wolę,
zgodnie z tym, co mówi o Mnie Pismo”.
8 Chrystus powiedział, że wszystkie te ofiary—mimo że są składane zgodnie z przepisami Prawa Mojżesza—nie zadowalały Boga! 9 Następnie dodał: „Oto przychodzę wypełnić Twoją wolę”. Usunął więc pierwsze przymierze, aby ustanowić nowe. 10 Jezus Chrystus, wypełniając Bożą wolę, złożył siebie samego w ofierze. W ten sposób raz na zawsze pojednał nas z Bogiem!
11 Każdy kapłan codziennie sprawuje swoją służbę i wiele razy składa te same ofiary, które jednak nie są w stanie oczyścić kogokolwiek z grzechów. 12 Natomiast Chrystus złożył tylko jedną ofiarę i na zawsze zasiadł po prawej stronie Boga, 13 gdzie czeka, aż wszyscy wrogowie padną u Jego stóp. 14 Poprzez swoją jedną ofiarę na zawsze uczynił doskonałymi tych, których pojednał z Bogiem. 15 Potwierdza to również Duch Święty, mówiąc:
16 „Wkrótce zawrę z nimi nowe przymierze
—mówi Pan.
Moje prawa włożę w ich serca,
i zapiszę je w ich umysłach.
17 I nie będę pamiętał o ich grzechach
oraz złych czynach”.
18 Skoro grzechy zostały już odpuszczone, to ofiara za nie jest niepotrzebna.
19 Przyjaciele, dzięki przelanej krwi Jezusa mamy teraz dostęp do miejsca najświętszego! 20 Poprzez swoją śmierć, otworzył On bowiem przed nami drogę prowadzącą do życia i usunął zasłonę oddzielającą nas od miejsca najświętszego.
21 On jest najwyższym kapłanem domu Boga! 22 Przychodźmy więc do Boga ze szczerym sercem i pełnym zaufaniem. Nasze serca zostały bowiem oczyszczone ze zła, a ciała obmyte czystą wodą.
Zachęta i ostrzeżenie
23 Nieugięcie oczekujmy spełnienia się naszej nadziei, bo Bóg zawsze dotrzymuje obietnic. 24 Troszczmy się o siebie nawzajem i zachęcajmy się do okazywania innym miłości oraz do dobrych czynów. 25 Nie opuszczajmy też naszych spotkań, jak to niektórzy mają w zwyczaju, ale dodawajmy sobie otuchy—tym bardziej, że widzimy zbliżający się dzień powrotu Pana.
26 Jeśli bowiem poznaliśmy Bożą prawdę, a dalej z rozmysłem grzeszymy, to nie ma już dla nas żadnej dodatkowej ofiary za grzechy, z której moglibyśmy skorzystać. 27 Pozostaje nam tylko oczekiwanie w strachu na Boży sąd i ogień, który pochłonie wrogów Boga. 28 Kto odrzucał Prawo Mojżesza, ponosił—bez litości—karę śmierci na podstawie zeznań dwóch lub trzech świadków. 29 Pomyślcie zatem, o ile surowsza kara spotka tego, kto podeptał ofiarę Syna Bożego, zlekceważył przelaną przez Niego krew przymierza, która pojednała Go z Bogiem, i znieważył Ducha obdarzającego łaską? 30 Wiemy dobrze, że Bóg powiedział:
„To Ja wymierzam sprawiedliwość
i to Ja odpłacam za zło”.
Pismo mówi również:
„Sam Pan osądzi swój lud”.
31 Straszna to rzecz wpaść w ręce żywego Boga!
32 Przypomnijcie sobie wcześniejsze czasy. Po tym, jak poznaliście Pana, musieliście zmagać się z wieloma trudnościami. 33 Byliście publicznie wyśmiewani, prześladowani i doświadczaliście tych samych cierpień, co inni wierzący. 34 Współczuliście uwięzionym i—pomimo utraty całego majątku—byliście pełni radości. Wiedzieliście bowiem, że w niebie macie o wiele wspanialszy i trwalszy skarb.
35 Nie porzucajcie więc waszego zaufania, bo zostanie ono nagrodzone. 36 Wytrwale wykonujcie wolę Boga, abyście otrzymali to, co obiecał. Pismo mówi bowiem:
37 „On już niedługo przyjdzie
i nie spóźni się”.
Bóg powiedział również:
38 „Ten, który jest prawy
i należy do Mnie,
będzie żył dzięki wierze.
Jeśli jednak odwróci się ode Mnie,
straci Moją przychylność”.
39 My jednak nie należymy do tych, którzy odwracają się od Pana i ściągają na siebie zgubę. Przeciwnie, należymy do tych, którzy wierzą Mu i dostępują zbawienia.

10 For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.
2 For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.
3 But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.
4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.
5 Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:
6 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.
7 Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.
8 Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law;
9 Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.
10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
11 And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:
12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;
13 From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.
14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.
15 Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before,
16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;
17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.
18 Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.
19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
20 By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;
21 And having an high priest over the house of God;
22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)
24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.
28 He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:
29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?
30 For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.
31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
32 But call to remembrance the former days, in which, after ye were illuminated, ye endured a great fight of afflictions;
33 Partly, whilst ye were made a gazingstock both by reproaches and afflictions; and partly, whilst ye became companions of them that were so used.
34 For ye had compassion of me in my bonds, and took joyfully the spoiling of your goods, knowing in yourselves that ye have in heaven a better and an enduring substance.
35 Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward.
36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.
37 For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.
38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.
39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.
