Redemption Through the Blood of Christ

¹¹ But when Christ appeared as a high priest ^(A)of the good things that have come,^[a] then through ^(B)the greater and more perfect tent (^(C)not made with hands, that is, not of this creation) ¹² he ^(D)entered ^(E)once for all into the holy places, not by means of ^(F)the blood of goats and calves but ^(G)by means of his own blood, ^(H)thus securing an eternal redemption. ¹³ For if ^(I)the blood of goats and bulls, and the sprinkling of defiled persons with ^(J)the ashes of a heifer, sanctify^[b] for the purification of the flesh, ¹⁴ how much more will ^(K)the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit ^(L)offered himself without blemish to God, ^(M)purify our^[c] conscience ^(N)from dead works ^(O)to serve the living God.

¹⁵ Therefore he is ^(P)the mediator of a new covenant, so that ^(Q)those who are called may ^(R)receive the promised eternal inheritance, ^(S)since a death has occurred that redeems them from the transgressions committed under the first covenant.^[d]

⁴⁶ Which one of you convicts me of sin? If I tell the truth, why do you not believe me? ^47 (A)Whoever is of God hears the words of God. ^(B)The reason why you do not hear them is that ^(C)you are not of God.”

Before Abraham Was, I Am

⁴⁸ The Jews answered him, “Are we not right in saying that you are a Samaritan and ^(D)have a demon?” ⁴⁹ Jesus answered, “I do not have a demon, but ^(E)I honor my Father, and you dishonor me. ⁵⁰ Yet ^(F)I do not seek my own glory; there is One who seeks it, and he is the judge. ⁵¹ Truly, truly, ^(G)I say to you, if anyone keeps my word, he will never ^(H)see death.” ⁵² The Jews said to him, “Now we know that you have a demon! ^(I)Abraham died, as did the prophets, yet ^(J)you say, ‘If anyone keeps my word, he will never ^(K)taste death.’ ^53 (L)Are you greater than our father Abraham, who died? And the prophets died! Who do you make yourself out to be?” ⁵⁴ Jesus answered, ^(M)“If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing. ^(N)It is my Father who glorifies me, ^(O)of whom you say, ‘He is our God.’^{[a] 55} But ^(P)you have not known him. ^(Q)I know him. If I were to say that I do not know him, I would be ^(R)a liar ^(S)like you, but I do know him and I keep his word. ^56 (T)Your father Abraham ^(U)rejoiced ^(V)that he would see my day. ^(W)He saw it and was glad.” ⁵⁷ So the Jews said to him, “You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?”^{[b] 58} Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, ^(X)I am.” ⁵⁹ So ^(Y)they picked up stones to throw at him, but Jesus hid himself and went out of the temple.
