6 but Christ as (A)a Son over His own house, (B)whose house we are (C)if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope [a]firm to the end.
Be Faithful(D)
7 Therefore, as (E)the Holy Spirit says:
(F)“Today, if you will hear His voice,
8 Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion,
In the day of trial in the wilderness,
9 Where your fathers tested Me, tried Me,
And saw My works forty years.
10 Therefore I was angry with that generation,
And said, ‘They always go astray in their heart,
And they have not known My ways.’
11 So I swore in My wrath,
‘They shall not enter My rest.’ ”
12 Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God;

6 But Christ is faithful as the Son(A) over God’s house. And we are his house,(B) if indeed we hold firmly(C) to our confidence and the hope(D) in which we glory.
Warning Against Unbelief
7 So, as the Holy Spirit says:(E)
“Today, if you hear his voice,
8 do not harden your hearts(F)
as you did in the rebellion,
during the time of testing in the wilderness,
9 where your ancestors tested and tried me,
though for forty years they saw what I did.(G)
10 That is why I was angry with that generation;
I said, ‘Their hearts are always going astray,
and they have not known my ways.’
11 So I declared on oath in my anger,(H)
‘They shall never enter my rest.’ (I)”[a](J)
12 See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God.(K)
