And Moses indeed was faithful in all his house as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be said:

But Christ as the Son in his own house: which house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and glory of hope unto the end.

Wherefore, as the Holy Ghost saith: To day if you shall hear his voice,

Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation; in the day of temptation in the desert,

Where your fathers tempted me, proved and saw my works,

10 Forty years: for which cause I was offended with this generation, and I said: They always err in heart. And they have not known my ways,

11 As I have sworn in my wrath: If they shall enter into my rest.

“Moses was faithful as a servant(A) in all God’s house,”[a](B) bearing witness to what would be spoken by God in the future. But Christ is faithful as the Son(C) over God’s house. And we are his house,(D) if indeed we hold firmly(E) to our confidence and the hope(F) in which we glory.

Warning Against Unbelief

So, as the Holy Spirit says:(G)

“Today, if you hear his voice,
    do not harden your hearts(H)
as you did in the rebellion,
    during the time of testing in the wilderness,
where your ancestors tested and tried me,
    though for forty years they saw what I did.(I)
10 That is why I was angry with that generation;
    I said, ‘Their hearts are always going astray,
    and they have not known my ways.’
11 So I declared on oath in my anger,(J)
    ‘They shall never enter my rest.’ (K)[b](L)
