Hebrews 2:14-18
Disciples’ Literal New Testament
So The Son Took On Mortal Flesh And Died To Release Us From The Power of Death
14 Therefore, since the children have shared of blood and flesh, He Himself also similarly partook of the same things in order that through death He might do-away-with[a] the one having the power of death (that is, the devil), 15 and release these: all-who by the fear of death were subject-to[b] slavery through all their living. 16 For He surely does not take-hold-of [c] angels, but He takes hold of the seed of Abraham.
He Had To Become Like Us In All Things In Order To Become a Merciful High Priest
17 Hence, He had-to become-like His brothers in all things in order that He might become a merciful and faithful High Priest in the things pertaining to God, so as to make-an-offering-for-satisfaction[d] [of God’s wrath] as to the sins of the people. 18 For having Himself [e] been tempted[f] in what He has suffered, He is able to help the ones being tempted.

New International Version
14 Since the children have flesh and blood,(A) he too shared in their humanity(B) so that by his death he might break the power(C) of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil(D)— 15 and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear(E) of death. 16 For surely it is not angels he helps, but Abraham’s descendants.(F) 17 For this reason he had to be made like them,[a](G) fully human in every way, in order that he might become a merciful(H) and faithful high priest(I) in service to God,(J) and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people.(K) 18 Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.(L)
