Hebrews 11:5-8

⁵By faith ^(A)Enoch was taken up so that he should not see death, and he was not found, because God had taken him. Now before he was taken he was commended as having pleased God. ⁶And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God ^(B)must believe that he exists and ^(C)that he rewards those who seek him. ⁷By faith ^(D)Noah, being warned by God concerning ^(E)events as yet unseen, in reverent fear constructed an ark for the saving of his household. By this he condemned the world and became an heir of ^(F)the righteousness that comes by faith.

⁸By faith ^(G)Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place ^(H)that he was to receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.

⁵By faith Enoch was taken from this life, so that he did not experience death: “He could not be found, because God had taken him away.”^[a]^(A) For before he was taken, he was commended as one who pleased God. ⁶And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him^(B) must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

⁷By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen,^(C) in holy fear built an ark^(D) to save his family.^(E) By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that is in keeping with faith.^(F)

⁸By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance,^(G) obeyed and went,^(H) even though he did not know where he was going.
