Hebrews 11:16-18

¹⁶But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a ^(A)heavenly one. Therefore ^(B)God is not ^[a]ashamed to be ^(C)called their God; for ^(D)He has prepared a city for them.

¹⁷By faith ^(E)Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and the one who had ^(F)received the promises was offering up his ^[b]only son; ¹⁸it was he to whom it was said, “^(G)Through Isaac your ^[c]descendants shall be named.”

¹⁶Instead, they were longing for a better country—a heavenly one.^(A) Therefore God is not ashamed^(B) to be called their God,^(C) for he has prepared a city^(D) for them.

¹⁷By faith Abraham, when God tested him, offered Isaac as a sacrifice.^(E) He who had embraced the promises was about to sacrifice his one and only son, ¹⁸even though God had said to him, “It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned.”^[a]^(F)
