Hebrews 11:1-3

11 Now faith is confidence in what we hope for^(A) and assurance about what we do not see.^(B) ²This is what the ancients were commended for.^(C)

³By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command,^(D) so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.

11 Faith is the reality of what we hope for, the proof of what we don’t see. ²The elders in the past were approved because they showed faith.

³By faith we understand that the universe has been created by a word from God so that the visible came into existence from the invisible.

11 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

²For by it the elders obtained a good report.

³Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
