16 “This is the new covenant I will make
with my people on that day,[a] says the Lord:
I will put my laws in their hearts,
and I will write them on their minds.”[b]

17 Then he says,

“I will never again remember
    their sins and lawless deeds.”[c]

18 And when sins have been forgiven, there is no need to offer any more sacrifices.

A Call to Persevere

19 And so, dear brothers and sisters,[d] we can boldly enter heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus. 20 By his death,[e] Jesus opened a new and life-giving way through the curtain into the Most Holy Place. 21 And since we have a great High Priest who rules over God’s house, 22 let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him. For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water.

23 Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. 24 Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. 25 And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.

16 “This is the covenant I will make with them
after that time, says the Lord.
I will put my laws in their hearts,
and I will write them on their minds.”[a](A)

17 Then he adds:

“Their sins and lawless acts
    I will remember no more.”[b](B)

18 And where these have been forgiven, sacrifice for sin is no longer necessary.

A Call to Persevere in Faith

19 Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence(C) to enter the Most Holy Place(D) by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way(E) opened for us through the curtain,(F) that is, his body, 21 and since we have a great priest(G) over the house of God,(H) 22 let us draw near to God(I) with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings,(J) having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience(K) and having our bodies washed with pure water.(L) 23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope(M) we profess,(N) for he who promised is faithful.(O) 24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds,(P) 25 not giving up meeting together,(Q) as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another(R)—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.(S)
