El mediador de un nuevo pacto
8 Ahora bien, el punto principal de lo que venimos diciendo es que tenemos tal sumo sacerdote, el cual se sentó a la diestra del trono de la Majestad en los cielos,(A) 2 ministro del santuario, y de aquel verdadero tabernáculo que levantó el Señor, y no el hombre. 3 Porque todo sumo sacerdote está constituido para presentar ofrendas y sacrificios; por lo cual es necesario que también este tenga algo que ofrecer. 4 Así que, si estuviese sobre la tierra, ni siquiera sería sacerdote, habiendo aún sacerdotes que presentan las ofrendas según la ley; 5 los cuales sirven a lo que es figura y sombra de las cosas celestiales, como se le advirtió a Moisés cuando iba a erigir el tabernáculo, diciéndole: Mira, haz todas las cosas conforme al modelo que se te ha mostrado en el monte.(B) 6 Pero ahora tanto mejor ministerio es el suyo, cuanto es mediador de un mejor pacto, establecido sobre mejores promesas. 7 Porque si aquel primero hubiera sido sin defecto, ciertamente no se hubiera procurado lugar para el segundo.
8 Porque reprendiéndolos dice:
He aquí vienen días, dice el Señor,
En que estableceré con la casa de Israel y la casa de Judá un nuevo pacto;
9 No como el pacto que hice con sus padres
El día que los tomé de la mano para sacarlos de la tierra de Egipto;
Porque ellos no permanecieron en mi pacto,
Y yo me desentendí de ellos, dice el Señor.
10 Por lo cual, este es el pacto que haré con la casa de Israel
Después de aquellos días, dice el Señor:
Pondré mis leyes en la mente de ellos,
Y sobre su corazón las escribiré;
Y seré a ellos por Dios,
Y ellos me serán a mí por pueblo;
11 Y ninguno enseñará a su prójimo,
Ni ninguno a su hermano, diciendo: Conoce al Señor;
Porque todos me conocerán,
Desde el menor hasta el mayor de ellos.
12 Porque seré propicio a sus injusticias,
Y nunca más me acordaré de sus pecados y de sus iniquidades.(C)
13 Al decir: Nuevo pacto, ha dado por viejo al primero; y lo que se da por viejo y se envejece, está próximo a desaparecer.

8 Lucrul cel mai important din ceea ce am spus este că avem un astfel de Mare Preot, Care S-a aşezat la dreapta tronului Măreţiei, în ceruri, 2 slujitor în Locul Sfânt şi în adevăratul Cort, ridicat de Domnul, nu de oameni. 3 Fiecare preot este desemnat să aducă atât daruri, cât şi jertfe. Astfel, a trebuit ca şi Acesta să aibă ceva să aducă. 4 Aşadar, dacă era pe pământ, atunci nu mai era preot, întrucât există preoţi care aduc daruri potrivit cu Legea. 5 Ei slujesc într-un sanctuar care este o copie şi o umbră a celui ceresc – aşa cum i-a fost arătat lui Moise atunci când urma să ridice cortul. Lui i-a spus: „Vezi să faci totul după modelul care ţi-a fost arătat pe munte!“[a] 6 Însă acum El a obţinut o lucrare mult mai deosebită, în aceeaşi măsură în care şi legământul pe care El îl mijloceşte este mai bun, legământ care a fost dat ca o lege, bazat pe promisiuni mai bune.
7 Dacă primul legământ ar fi fost fără cusur, atunci nu s-ar mai fi căutat loc pentru al doilea. 8 Dar El i-a acuzat, zicând:
„Iată, vin zile, zice Domnul,
când voi încheia cu Casa lui Israel
şi cu Casa lui Iuda
un nou legământ,
9 nu ca legământul pe care l-am încheiat cu strămoşii lor,
în ziua când i-am luat de mână
ca să-i scot din Egipt;
pentru că n-au rămas în legământul Meu,
nici Mie nu Mi-a păsat de ei, zice Domnul.
10 Ci acesta este legământul pe care-l voi încheia cu Casa lui Israel,
după acele zile, zice Domnul:
voi pune legile Mele în mintea lor
şi le voi scrie în inimile lor.
Eu voi fi Dumnezeul lor,
iar ei vor fi poporul Meu.
11 Şi nici unul nu va mai învăţa pe semenul
sau pe fratele său, zicând: «Cunoaşte-L pe Domnul!»,
pentru că toţi Mă vor cunoaşte,
de la cel mai mic până la cel mai mare,
12 căci voi fi îndurător în ce priveşte fărădelegile lor
şi nu-Mi voi mai aduce aminte de păcatele lor.“[b]
13 Vorbind despre un nou legământ, l-a făcut pe primul învechit, iar ceea ce este învechit şi îmbătrânit va dispărea în curând.

8 Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens;
2 A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man.
3 For every high priest is ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices: wherefore it is of necessity that this man have somewhat also to offer.
4 For if he were on earth, he should not be a priest, seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law:
5 Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount.
6 But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.
7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.
8 For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:
9 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.
10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:
11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.
12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.
13 In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.
