Jesús como Sumo Sacerdote
5 Porque todo sumo sacerdote tomado de entre los hombres(A) es constituido a favor de los hombres en las cosas que a Dios se refieren(B), para presentar ofrendas y sacrificios(C) por los pecados(D). 2 Puede[a] obrar con benignidad[b](E) para con los ignorantes(F) y extraviados(G), puesto que él mismo está sujeto a flaquezas(H). 3 Por esa causa está obligado a ofrecer sacrificios por los pecados(I), tanto por sí mismo como por el pueblo(J). 4 Nadie toma este honor para sí mismo(K), sino que lo recibe cuando es llamado por Dios, así como lo fue Aarón(L).
5 De la misma manera, Cristo no se glorificó a Él mismo(M) para hacerse Sumo Sacerdote(N), sino que lo glorificó el que le dijo(O):
«Hijo Mío eres Tú,
Yo te he engendrado hoy(P)»;
6 como también dice en otro pasaje:
«Tú eres sacerdote para siempre
Según el orden de Melquisedec(Q)».
7 Cristo[c], en los días de Su carne, habiendo ofrecido oraciones y súplicas(R) con gran clamor y lágrimas(S) al que lo podía librar de la muerte[d](T), fue oído a causa de Su temor reverente(U). 8 Aunque era Hijo(V), aprendió obediencia(W) por lo que padeció; 9 y habiendo sido hecho perfecto(X), vino a ser fuente de eterna salvación para todos los que le obedecen, 10 siendo constituido por Dios como sumo sacerdote(Y) según el orden de Melquisedec(Z).

11 Acerca de esto[e] tenemos mucho que decir, y es difícil de explicar, puesto que ustedes se han hecho tardos para oír. 12 Pues aunque ya[f] debieran ser maestros, otra vez tienen necesidad de que alguien les enseñe los principios(AA) elementales[g](AB) de los oráculos[h] de Dios(AC), y han llegado a tener necesidad de leche(AD) y no de alimento sólido. 13 Porque todo el que toma solo leche, no está acostumbrado a la palabra de justicia, porque es niño(AE). 14 Pero el alimento sólido es para los adultos[i](AF), los cuales por la práctica tienen los sentidos ejercitados(AG) para discernir el bien y el mal(AH).

5 Remember what I said earlier about the role of the high priest, even the ones chosen by human beings? The job of every high priest is reconciliation: approaching God on behalf of others and offering Him gifts and sacrifices to repair the damage caused by our sins against God and each other. 2 The high priest should have compassion for those who are ignorant of the faith and those who fall out of the faith because he also has wrestled with human weakness, 3 and so the priest must offer sacrifices both for his sins and for those of the people. 4 The office of high priest and the honor that goes along with it isn’t one that someone just takes. One must be set aside, called by God, just as God called Aaron, the brother of Moses.
5 In the same way, the Anointed One, our Liberating King, didn’t call Himself but was appointed to His priestly office by God, who said to Him,
You are My Son.
Today I have become Your Father,[a]
6 and who also says elsewhere,
You are a priest forever—
in the honored order of Melchizedek.[b]
Jesus is the Great High Priest because He serves as the ultimate mediator between God and humanity. In this role He serves as both the priest and the sacrifice that atones for sins once and for all. But we are still called to be priests for each other. These are not mutually exclusive ideas.
Whenever you share a cup of cold water in Jesus’ name or pray for someone, you’re a priest. You’re communicating the grace of God. There are times that we need a priest, too, right? If we are to be like Him, we must allow someone else to be a priest for us. There are problems so great and pains so deep and sins so intractable that we need a person of flesh and blood to join us in carrying our concerns to God.
7 When Jesus was on the earth, a man of flesh and blood, He offered up prayers and pleas, groans and tears to the One who could save Him from death. He was heard because He approached God with reverence. 8 Although He was a Son, Jesus learned obedience through the things He suffered. 9 And once He was perfected through that suffering He became the way of eternal salvation for all those who hear and follow Him, 10 for God appointed Him to be a High Priest in the order of Melchizedek.
11 I have a lot more to say about this, but it may be hard for you to follow since you’ve become dull in your understanding. 12 By this time, you ought to be teachers yourselves, yet I feel like you want me to reteach you the most basic things that God wants you to know. It’s almost like you’re a baby again, coddled at your mother’s breast, nursing, not ready for solid food. 13 No one who lives on milk alone can know the ins and outs of what it means to be righteous and pursue justice; that’s because he is only a baby. 14 But solid food is for those who have come of age, for those who have learned through practice to distinguish good from evil.

5 同样，基督也没有自取荣耀做大祭司，是上帝对祂说：
“你是我的儿子，
我今日成为你父亲。”
6 在圣经的另一处，上帝又说：
“你照麦基洗德的模式永远做祭司。”
7 基督在世为人的时候，曾经声泪俱下地祈求能救祂脱离死亡的上帝。祂因为敬虔而蒙了应允。 8 基督虽然是上帝的儿子，仍然从所受的苦难中学习了顺服。 9 祂既然达到了纯全的地步，就成了永恒救恩的源头，使所有顺服祂的人都得到拯救。 10 上帝照着麦基洗德的模式立祂做大祭司。

11 关于这方面的事，我们还有很多话要说，但因为你们已经听不进去，很难向你们解释。 12 按你们学习的时间来算，你们本该做别人的老师了，可惜你们还需要别人向你们传授上帝话语的基本道理，成了不能吃干粮、只能吃奶的人。 13 因为只能吃奶的人还是婴孩，不熟习仁义的道理。 14 干粮是给成年人吃的，他们的心思历经锻炼，能够分辨善恶。

5 Every high priest is selected from among the people and is appointed to represent the people in matters related to God,(A) to offer gifts and sacrifices(B) for sins.(C) 2 He is able to deal gently with those who are ignorant and are going astray,(D) since he himself is subject to weakness.(E) 3 This is why he has to offer sacrifices for his own sins, as well as for the sins of the people.(F) 4 And no one takes this honor on himself, but he receives it when called by God, just as Aaron was.(G)
5 In the same way, Christ did not take on himself the glory(H) of becoming a high priest.(I) But God said(J) to him,
6 And he says in another place,
7 During the days of Jesus’ life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions(N) with fervent cries and tears(O) to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard(P) because of his reverent submission.(Q) 8 Son(R) though he was, he learned obedience from what he suffered(S) 9 and, once made perfect,(T) he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him 10 and was designated by God to be high priest(U) in the order of Melchizedek.(V)
Warning Against Falling Away(W)
11 We have much to say about this, but it is hard to make it clear to you because you no longer try to understand. 12 In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths(X) of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food!(Y) 13 Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant,(Z) is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. 14 But solid food is for the mature,(AA) who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.(AB)
