² For a tent^[a] was constructed, the first one, in which were the lampstand, the table, and the bread of the Presence;^[b] this is called the holy place.^{(A) 3} Behind the second curtain was a tent^[c] called the holy of holies.^(B)

¹¹ But when Christ came as a high priest of the good things that have come,^[a] then through the greater and more perfect tent^[b] (not made with hands, that is, not of this creation),^{(A) 12} he entered once for all into the holy place, not with the blood of goats and calves but with his own blood, thus obtaining eternal redemption.^{(B) 13} For if the blood of goats and bulls and the sprinkling of the ashes of a heifer sanctifies those who have been defiled so that their flesh is purified,^{(C) 14} how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit^[c] offered himself without blemish to God, purify our^[d] conscience from dead works to worship the living God!^(D)

God’s Rule over the Nations

To the leader. Of the Korahites. A Psalm.

⁵¹ Very truly, I tell you, whoever keeps my word will never see death.”^{(A) 52} The Jews said to him, “Now we know that you have a demon. Abraham died, and so did the prophets, yet you say, ‘Whoever keeps my word will never taste death.’^{(B) 53} Are you greater than our father Abraham, who died? The prophets also died. Who do you claim to be?”^{(C) 54} Jesus answered, “If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing. It is my Father who glorifies me, he of whom you say, ‘He is our God,’^{(D) 55} though you do not know him. But I know him; if I would say that I do not know him, I would be a liar like you. But I do know him, and I keep his word.^{(E) 56} Your ancestor Abraham rejoiced that he would see my day; he saw it and was glad.”^{(F) 57} Then the Jews said to him, “You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?”^{[a] 58} Jesus said to them, “Very truly, I tell you, before Abraham was, I am.”^{(G) 59} So they picked up stones to throw at him, but Jesus hid himself and went out of the temple.^(H)
