⁶ These preparations having thus been made, ^(A)the priests go regularly into the first section, performing their ritual duties,

^3 (A)And you shall say to them, This is the food offering that you shall offer to the Lord: two male lambs a year old without blemish, day by day, as a regular offering.

⁸ Now ^(A)while he was serving as priest before God when ^(B)his division was on duty, ⁹ according to the custom of the priesthood, he was chosen by lot ^(C)to enter ^(D)the temple of the Lord and burn incense. ¹⁰ And the whole multitude of the people ^(E)were praying ^(F)outside at the hour of incense. ¹¹ And there appeared to him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of ^(G)the altar of incense.

^11 (A)It became great, even as great as ^(B)the Prince of the host. ^(C)And the regular burnt offering was taken away from him, and the place of his sanctuary was overthrown.

Uzziah's Pride and Punishment

¹⁶ But when ^(A)he was strong, ^(B)he grew proud, to his destruction. For he was unfaithful to the Lord his God and entered the temple of the Lord to burn incense on the altar of incense. ¹⁷ But ^(C)Azariah the priest went in after him, with eighty priests of the Lord who were men of valor, ¹⁸ and they withstood King Uzziah and said to him, ^(D)“It is not for you, Uzziah, to burn incense to the Lord, ^(E)but for the priests, the sons of Aaron, who are consecrated to burn incense. Go out of the sanctuary, for you have done wrong, and it will bring you no honor from the Lord God.” ¹⁹ Then Uzziah was angry. Now he had a censer in his hand to burn incense, and when he became angry with the priests, ^(F)leprosy^[a] broke out on his forehead in the presence of the priests in the house of the Lord, by the altar of incense.

⁷ And Aaron shall ^(A)burn fragrant incense on it. Every morning when he ^(B)dresses the lamps he shall burn it, ⁸ and when Aaron sets up the lamps at twilight, he shall burn it, a regular incense offering before the Lord throughout your generations.

^21 (A)In the tent of meeting, ^(B)outside the veil that is before the testimony, Aaron and his sons shall tend it from evening to morning before the Lord. It shall be a statute forever to be observed throughout their generations by the people of Israel.
