²⁴ For Christ did not enter a sanctuary made with human hands that was only a copy of the true one;^(A) he entered heaven itself,^(B) now to appear for us in God’s presence.^(C)

² fixing our eyes on Jesus,^(A) the pioneer^(B) and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross,^(C) scorning its shame,^(D) and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.^(E)

The Blood of Christ

¹¹ But when Christ came as high priest^(A) of the good things that are now already here,^[a](B) he went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle^(C) that is not made with human hands,^(D) that is to say, is not a part of this creation. ¹² He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves;^(E) but he entered the Most Holy Place^(F) once for all^(G) by his own blood,^(H) thus obtaining^[b] eternal redemption.

²³ It was necessary, then, for the copies^(A) of the heavenly things to be purified with these sacrifices, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.

² and who serves in the sanctuary, the true tabernacle^(A) set up by the Lord, not by a mere human being.

²⁸ I came from the Father and entered the world; now I am leaving the world and going back to the Father.”^(A)

² Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.^(A)

⁸ This is why it^[a] says:

⁹ (What does “he ascended” mean except that he also descended to the lower, earthly regions^[c]? ¹⁰ He who descended is the very one who ascended^(C) higher than all the heavens, in order to fill the whole universe.)^{(D) 11} So Christ himself gave^(E) the apostles,^(F) the prophets,^(G) the evangelists,^(H) the pastors and teachers,^(I)

²⁰ he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead^(A) and seated him at his right hand^(B) in the heavenly realms,^{(C) 21} far above all rule and authority, power and dominion,^(D) and every name^(E) that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.^{(F) 22} And God placed all things under his feet^(G) and appointed him to be head^(H) over everything for the church,
