³ without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made like the Son of God, remains a priest continually.

⁶ but he whose genealogy is not derived from them received tithes from Abraham ^(A)and blessed ^(B)him who had the promises.

²³ Also there were many priests, because they were prevented by death from continuing. ²⁴ But He, because He continues forever, has an unchangeable priesthood. ²⁵ Therefore He is also ^(A)able to save ^[a]to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives ^(B)to make intercession for them.

²⁶ For such a High Priest was fitting for us, ^(C)who is holy, ^[b]harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, ^(D)and has become higher than the heavens; ²⁷ who does not need daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for His ^(E)own sins and then for the people’s, for this He did once for all when He offered up Himself. ²⁸ For the law appoints as high priests men who have weakness, but the word of the oath, which came after the law, appoints the Son who has been perfected forever.

¹⁷ For ^[a]He testifies:

The Family of Levi^(A)

6 The sons of Levi were ^(B)Gershon,^[a] Kohath, and Merari. ² The sons of Kohath were Amram, ^(C)Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel. ³ The children of Amram were Aaron, Moses, and Miriam. And the sons of Aaron were ^(D)Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.

²⁰ Now ^(A)Amram took for himself ^(B)Jochebed, his father’s sister, as wife; and she bore him ^(C)Aaron and Moses. And the years of the life of Amram were one hundred and thirty-seven. ^21 (D)The sons of Izhar were Korah, Nepheg, and Zichri. ²² And ^(E)the sons of Uzziel were Mishael, Elzaphan, and Zithri. ²³ Aaron took to himself Elisheba, daughter of ^(F)Amminadab, sister of Nahshon, as wife; and she bore him ^(G)Nadab, Abihu, ^(H)Eleazar, and Ithamar. ²⁴ And ^(I)the sons of Korah were Assir, Elkanah, and Abiasaph. These are the families of the Korahites. ²⁵ Eleazar, Aaron’s son, took for himself one of the daughters of Putiel as wife; and ^(J)she bore him Phinehas. These are the heads of the fathers’ houses of the Levites according to their families.

²⁶ These are the same Aaron and Moses to whom the Lord said, “Bring out the children of Israel from the land of Egypt according to their ^(K)armies.”^{[a] 27} These are the ones who spoke to Pharaoh king of Egypt, ^(L)to bring out the children of Israel from Egypt. These are the same Moses and Aaron.

¹⁸ And ^(A)the sons of Kohath were Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel. And the years of the life of Kohath were one hundred and thirty-three.

³ Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”
