²⁸ For the law appoints as high priests men in all their weakness;^(A) but the oath, which came after the law, appointed the Son,^(B) who has been made perfect^(C) forever.

¹⁰ In bringing many sons and daughters to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists,^(A) should make the pioneer of their salvation perfect through what he suffered.^(B)

²¹ but he became a priest with an oath when God said to him:

² but in these last days^(A) he has spoken to us by his Son,^(B) whom he appointed heir^(C) of all things, and through whom^(D) also he made the universe.^(E)

5 Every high priest is selected from among the people and is appointed to represent the people in matters related to God,^(A) to offer gifts and sacrifices^(B) for sins.^{(C) 2} He is able to deal gently with those who are ignorant and are going astray,^(D) since he himself is subject to weakness.^(E)

³² He replied, “Go tell that fox, ‘I will keep on driving out demons and healing people today and tomorrow, and on the third day I will reach my goal.’^(A)

²⁴ but because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood.^(A)

³ Without father or mother, without genealogy,^(A) without beginning of days or end of life, resembling the Son of God,^(B) he remains a priest forever.
