²⁶ For such a High Priest was fitting for us, ^(A)who is holy, ^[a]harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, ^(B)and has become higher than the heavens;

Our Compassionate High Priest

¹⁴ Seeing then that we have a great ^(A)High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, ^(B)let us hold fast our confession. ¹⁵ For ^(C)we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but ^(D)was in all points tempted as we are, ^(E)yet without sin.

²¹ For ^(A)He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become ^(B)the righteousness of God in Him.

² And ^(A)He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but ^(B)also for the whole world.

The New Priestly Service

8 Now this is the main point of the things we are saying: We have such a High Priest, ^(A)who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens,

⁵ And you know ^(A)that He was manifested ^(B)to take away our sins, and ^(C)in Him there is no sin.

² looking unto Jesus, the ^[a]author and ^[b]finisher of our faith, ^(A)who for the joy that was set before Him ^(B)endured the cross, despising the shame, and ^(C)has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Christ’s Death Perfects the Sanctified

¹¹ And every priest stands ^(A)ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. ^12 (B)But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down ^(C)at the right hand of God, ¹³ from that time waiting ^(D)till His enemies are made His footstool. ¹⁴ For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being ^[a]sanctified.

¹⁵ But the Holy Spirit also witnesses to us; for after He had said before,

^16 (E)“This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them,” ¹⁷ then He adds, ^(F)“Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.” ¹⁸ Now where there is ^[b]remission of these, there is no longer an offering for sin.

Hold Fast Your Confession

¹⁹ Therefore, brethren, having ^(G)boldness^[c] to enter ^(H)the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, ²⁰ by a new and ^(I)living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, ²¹ and having a High Priest over the house of God, ²² let us ^(J)draw near with a true heart ^(K)in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.
