⁴ And ^(A)no one takes this honor for himself, but only when called by God, ^(B)just as Aaron was.

The Priests' Garments

28 “Then bring near to you ^(A)Aaron your brother, and his sons with him, from among the people of Israel, to serve me as priests—Aaron and Aaron's sons, ^(B)Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.

⁴⁰ to be a reminder to the people of Israel, so ^(A)that no outsider, who is not of the descendants of Aaron, should draw near to burn incense before the Lord, lest he become like Korah and his company—as the Lord said to him through Moses.

¹⁸ and they withstood King Uzziah and said to him, ^(A)“It is not for you, Uzziah, to burn incense to the Lord, ^(B)but for the priests, the sons of Aaron, who are consecrated to burn incense. Go out of the sanctuary, for you have done wrong, and it will bring you no honor from the Lord God.”

^13 (A)The sons of Amram: Aaron and Moses. ^(B)Aaron was set apart to dedicate the most holy things, that he and his sons forever should ^(C)make offerings before the Lord and ^(D)minister to him and ^(E)pronounce blessings in his name forever.

⁵ and he said to Korah and all his company, “In the morning the Lord will show ^(A)who is his,^[a] and who is ^(B)holy, and will bring him near to him. The one ^(C)whom he chooses he will ^(D)bring near to him.

²⁷ John answered, ^(A)“A person cannot receive even one thing ^(B)unless it is given him ^(C)from heaven.

⁴⁶ And Moses said to Aaron, “Take your censer, and put fire on it from off the altar and lay incense on it and carry it quickly to the congregation and make atonement for them, for ^(A)wrath has gone out from the Lord; the plague has begun.” ⁴⁷ So Aaron took it as Moses said and ran into the midst of the assembly. And behold, the plague had already begun among the people. And he put on the incense and made atonement for the people. ⁴⁸ And he stood between the dead and the living, and ^(B)the plague was stopped.

³⁵ And ^(A)fire came out from the Lord and consumed ^(B)the 250 men offering the incense.
