⁶ Since therefore it remains open for some to enter it and those who formerly received the good news failed to enter because of disobedience,

¹⁸ And to whom did he swear that they would not enter his rest, if not to those who were disobedient?^{(A) 19} So we see that they were unable to enter because of unbelief.^(B)

⁴³ “Therefore I tell you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people that produces its fruits.^(A)

⁹ So then, a Sabbath rest still remains for the people of God,

² For indeed the good news came to us just as to them, but the message they heard did not benefit them because they were not united by faith with those who listened.^[a](A)

⁸ And the scripture, foreseeing that God would reckon as righteous the gentiles by faith, declared the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, “All the gentiles shall be blessed in you.”^(A)

²⁸ “Let it be known to you, then, that this salvation of God has been sent to the gentiles; they will listen.”^[a]

⁴⁶ Then both Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly, saying, “It was necessary that the word of God should be spoken first to you. Since you reject it and judge yourselves to be unworthy of eternal life, we are now turning to the gentiles.^{(A) 47} For so the Lord has commanded us, saying,

²¹ So the slave returned and reported this to his master. Then the owner of the house became angry and said to his slave, ‘Go out at once into the streets and lanes of the town and bring in the poor, the crippled, the blind, and the lame.’^{(A) 22} And the slave said, ‘Sir, what you ordered has been done, and there is still room.’ ²³ Then the master said to the slave, ‘Go out into the roads and lanes, and compel people to come in, so that my house may be filled. ²⁴ For I tell you,^[a] none of those who were invited will taste my dinner.’ ”^(B)

⁹ Go therefore into the main streets, and invite everyone you find to the wedding banquet.’ ¹⁰ Those slaves went out into the streets and gathered all whom they found, both good and bad, so the wedding hall was filled with guests.^(A)
