⁶ Therefore since it still remains for some to enter that rest, and since those who formerly had the good news proclaimed to them did not go in because of their disobedience,^(A)

¹⁸ And to whom did God swear that they would never enter his rest^(A) if not to those who disobeyed?^{(B) 19} So we see that they were not able to enter, because of their unbelief.^(C)

⁴³ “Therefore I tell you that the kingdom of God will be taken away from you^(A) and given to a people who will produce its fruit.

⁹ There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God;

² For we also have had the good news proclaimed to us, just as they did; but the message they heard was of no value to them, because they did not share the faith of those who obeyed.^[a](A)

⁸ Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: “All nations will be blessed through you.”^[a](A)

²⁹ What I mean, brothers and sisters, is that the time is short.^(A) From now on those who have wives should live as if they do not;

²⁸ “Therefore I want you to know that God’s salvation^(A) has been sent to the Gentiles,^(B) and they will listen!”

⁴⁶ Then Paul and Barnabas answered them boldly: “We had to speak the word of God to you first.^(A) Since you reject it and do not consider yourselves worthy of eternal life, we now turn to the Gentiles.^{(B) 47} For this is what the Lord has commanded us:

²¹ “The servant came back and reported this to his master. Then the owner of the house became angry and ordered his servant, ‘Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and bring in the poor, the crippled, the blind and the lame.’^(A)
