Failure of the Wilderness Wanderers

^16 (A)For who, having heard, rebelled? Indeed, was it not all who came out of Egypt, led by Moses?

^2 (A)And all the children of Israel complained against Moses and Aaron, and the whole congregation said to them, “If only we had died in the land of Egypt! Or if only we had died in this wilderness!

^30 (A)Except for Caleb the son of Jephunneh and Joshua the son of Nun, you shall by no means enter the land which I ^[a]swore I would make you dwell in.

^38 (A)Joshua the son of Nun, ^(B)who stands before you, he shall go in there. ^(C)Encourage him, for he shall cause Israel to inherit it.

⁶⁵ For the Lord had said of them, “They ^(A)shall surely die in the wilderness.” So there was not left a man of them, ^(B)except Caleb the son of Jephunneh and Joshua the son of Nun.

^38 (A)But Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb the son of Jephunneh remained alive, of the men who went to spy out the land.

²⁴ But My servant ^(A)Caleb, because he has a different spirit in him and ^(B)has followed Me fully, I will bring into the land where he went, and his descendants shall inherit it.

⁴ So they said to one another, ^(A)“Let us select a leader and ^(B)return to Egypt.”
