¹⁰ Therefore I was angry with that generation,
And said, ‘They always go astray in their heart,
And they have not known My ways.’

¹⁰ For ^(A)forty years I was ^[a]grieved with that generation,
And said, ‘It is a people who go astray in their hearts,
And they do not know My ways.’

⁸ And ^(A)may not be like their fathers,
^(B)A stubborn and rebellious generation,
A generation ^(C)that did not ^[a]set its heart aright,
And whose spirit was not faithful to God.

² That ^(A)Your way may be known on earth,
^(B)Your salvation among all nations.

¹² My people ask counsel from their ^(A)wooden idols,
And their ^[a]staff informs them.
For ^(B)the spirit of harlotry has caused them to stray,
And they have played the harlot against their God.

¹⁰ But they ^(A)rebelled and ^(B)grieved His Holy Spirit;
^(C)So He turned Himself against them as an enemy,
And He fought against them.
