Jesus the Great High Priest

14 Since then we have (A)a great high priest (B)who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, (C)let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a high priest (D)who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been (E)tempted as we are, (F)yet without sin. 16 (G)Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

For every high priest chosen from among men (H)is appointed to act on behalf of men (I)in relation to God, (J)to offer gifts and sacrifices for sins. (K)He can deal gently with the ignorant and wayward, since he himself (L)is beset with weakness.

18 All this is from God, (A)who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us (B)the ministry of reconciliation; 19 that is, in Christ God was reconciling[a] the world to himself, (C)not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us (D)the message of reconciliation. 20 Therefore, (E)we are ambassadors for Christ, (F)God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. 21 (G)For our sake he made him to be sin (H)who knew no sin, so that in him we might become (I)the righteousness of God.

The Seventy Weeks

24 (A)“Seventy weeks[a] are decreed about your people and (B)your holy city, to finish (C)the transgression, to put an end to sin, (D)and to atone for iniquity, (E)to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal both vision and prophet, and (F)to anoint a most holy place.[b]
