¹³ Therefore let us go forth to Him, outside the camp, bearing ^(A)His reproach.

²⁶ esteeming ^(A)the ^[a]reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures ^[b]in Egypt; for he looked to the ^(B)reward.

¹⁴ If you are ^[a]reproached for the name of Christ, ^(A)blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. ^[b]On their part He is blasphemed, ^(B)but on your part He is glorified. ¹⁵ But let none of you suffer as a murderer, a thief, an evildoer, or as a ^[c]busybody in other people’s matters. ¹⁶ Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in this ^[d]matter.

⁴¹ So they departed from the presence of the council, ^(A)rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for ^[a]His name.

¹⁰ We are ^(A)fools for Christ’s sake, but you are wise in Christ! ^(B)We are weak, but you are strong! You are distinguished, but we are dishonored! ¹¹ To the present hour we both hunger and thirst, and we are poorly clothed, and beaten, and homeless. ^12 (C)And we labor, working with our own hands. ^(D)Being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we endure; ¹³ being defamed, we ^[a]entreat. ^(E)We have been made as the filth of the world, the offscouring of all things until now.

¹⁰ Therefore ^(A)I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. ^(B)For when I am weak, then I am strong.

³⁹ And ^(A)those who passed by blasphemed Him, wagging their heads ⁴⁰ and saying, ^(B)“You who destroy the temple and build it in three days, save Yourself! ^(C)If You are the Son of God, come down from the cross.”

⁴¹ Likewise the chief priests also, mocking with the ^[a]scribes and elders, said, ⁴² “He ^(D)saved others; Himself He cannot save. ^[b]If He is the King of Israel, let Him now come down from the cross, and we will believe ^[c]Him. ^43 (E)He trusted in God; let Him deliver Him now if He will have Him; for He said, ‘I am the Son of God.’ ”

^44 (F)Even the robbers who were crucified with Him reviled Him with the same thing.

Take Up the Cross and Follow Him^(A)

^24 (B)Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and ^(C)follow Me.
