¹² So Jesus also ^(A)suffered ^(B)outside the gate in order to sanctify the people ^(C)through his own blood.

¹² he ^(A)entered ^(B)once for all into the holy places, not by means of ^(C)the blood of goats and calves but ^(D)by means of his own blood, ^(E)thus securing an eternal redemption. ¹³ For if ^(F)the blood of goats and bulls, and the sprinkling of defiled persons with ^(G)the ashes of a heifer, sanctify^[a] for the purification of the flesh, ¹⁴ how much more will ^(H)the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit ^(I)offered himself without blemish to God, ^(J)purify our^[b] conscience ^(K)from dead works ^(L)to serve the living God.

¹⁷ and ^(A)he went out, ^(B)bearing his own cross, to the place called The Place of a Skull, which in Aramaic is called Golgotha. ^18 (C)There they crucified him, and with him two others, one on either side, and Jesus between them.

⁵⁸ Then ^(A)they cast him out of the city and ^(B)stoned him. And ^(C)the witnesses laid down their garments ^(D)at the feet of a young man named Saul.

²⁰ And when they had ^(A)mocked him, they stripped him of ^(B)the purple cloak and put his own clothes on him. And they ^(C)led him out to crucify him.

The Crucifixion

^21 (D)And they compelled a passerby, Simon of Cyrene, who was coming in from the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to carry his cross. ^22 (E)And they brought him to the place called Golgotha (which means Place of a Skull). ²³ And they offered him wine mixed with ^(F)myrrh, but he did not take it. ²⁴ And they crucified him and ^(G)divided his garments among them, casting lots for them, to decide what each should take.

¹¹ For ^(A)he who sanctifies and ^(B)those who are sanctified ^(C)all have one source.^[a] That is why he is not ashamed to call them ^(D)brothers,^[b]

²⁶ that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by ^(A)the washing of water ^(B)with the word,

¹¹ And ^(A)such were some of you. But ^(B)you were washed, ^(C)you were sanctified, ^(D)you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

¹⁹ And ^(A)for their sake ^(B)I consecrate myself,^[a] that they also ^(C)may be sanctified^[b] in truth.
