²¹ Indeed, so terrifying was the sight that Moses said, “I tremble with fear.”)^(A)

¹⁶ On the morning of the third day there was thunder and lightning, as well as a thick cloud on the mountain and a blast of a trumpet so loud that all the people who were in the camp trembled.^(A)

³ And one called to another and said,

⁴ The pivots^[a] on the thresholds shook at the voices of those who called, and the house filled with smoke. ⁵ And I said, “Woe is me! I am lost, for I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, yet my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts!”^(B)

¹⁹ For I was afraid that the anger that the Lord bore against you was so fierce that he would destroy you. But the Lord listened to me that time also.^(A)

¹⁹ As the blast of the trumpet grew louder and louder, Moses would speak and God would answer him in thunder.^(A)

¹⁷ When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he placed his right hand on me, saying, “Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last^(A)

¹⁷ How can my lord’s servant talk with my lord? For I am exhausted;^[a] no strength remains in me, and no breath is left in me.”

⁸ So I was left alone to see this great vision. My strength left me, and my complexion grew deathly pale, and I retained no strength.^(A)
