² looking unto Jesus, the ^[a]author and ^[b]finisher of our faith, ^(A)who for the joy that was set before Him ^(B)endured the cross, despising the shame, and ^(C)has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Christ’s Suffering and Ours

¹⁸ For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring ^[a]us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit,

^23 (A)who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but ^(B)committed Himself to Him who judges righteously; ^24 (C)who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, ^(D)that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—^(E)by whose ^[a]stripes you were healed.

^3 (A)who being the brightness of His glory and the express ^(B)image of His person, and ^(C)upholding all things by the word of His power, ^(D)when He had ^[a]by Himself ^[b]purged ^[c]our sins, ^(E)sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,

² And ^(A)walk in love, ^(B)as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God ^(C)for a sweet-smelling aroma.

^13 (A)looking for the blessed ^(B)hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, ^14 (C)who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed ^(D)and purify for Himself ^(E)His own special people, zealous for good works.

⁸ And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and ^(A)became ^(B)obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. ^9 (C)Therefore God also ^(D)has highly exalted Him and ^(E)given Him the name which is above every name, ^10 (F)that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, ¹¹ and ^(G)that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

²⁸ so ^(A)Christ was ^(B)offered once to bear the sins ^(C)of many. To those who ^(D)eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation.
