Thus Esau despised his birthright.

15 Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Should I therefore take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? Never!(A) 16 Do you not know that whoever is united to a prostitute becomes one body with her? For it is said, “The two shall be one flesh.”(B) 17 But anyone united to the Lord becomes one spirit with him.(C) 18 Shun sexual immorality![a] Every sin that a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person[b] sins against the body itself.(D) 19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple[c] of the Holy Spirit within you, which you have from God, and that you are not your own?(E) 20 For you were bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body.(F)

20 But I have this against you: you tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophet and is teaching and beguiling my servants to engage in sexual immorality[a] and to eat food sacrificed to idols.(A) 21 I gave her time to repent, but she refuses to repent of her sexual immorality.[b](B) 22 Beware, I am throwing her on a bed, and those who commit adultery with her I am throwing into great distress, unless they repent of her doings, 23 and I will strike her children dead. And all the churches will know that I am the one who searches minds and hearts, and I will give to each of you as your works deserve.(C)

For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality;(A) that each one of you know how to control your own body[a] in holiness and honor, not with lustful passion, like the gentiles who do not know God; that no one wrong or exploit a brother or sister in this matter, because the Lord is an avenger in all these things, just as we have already told you beforehand and solemnly warned you.(B) For God did not call us to impurity but in holiness.

Sexual Immorality Must Be Judged

I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral persons, 10 not at all meaning the sexually immoral of this world, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters, since you would then need to go out of the world.(A) 11 But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who bears the name of brother or sister who is sexually immoral or greedy or an idolater, reviler, drunkard, or swindler. Do not even eat with such a one.

Sexual Immorality Defiles the Church

It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you and the sort of sexual immorality that is not found even among gentiles, for a man is living with his father’s wife.(A) And you are arrogant! Should you not rather have mourned, so that he who has done this would have been removed from among you?

For I, though absent in body, am present in spirit, and as if present I have already pronounced judgment in the name of the Lord Jesus on the man who has done such a thing.[a] When you are assembled and my spirit is present with the power of our Lord Jesus,(B) you are to hand this man over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord.[b](C)

Your boasting is not a good thing. Do you not know that a little yeast leavens all of the dough?(D)
