⁴⁰ God having provided something better for us, that they should not be ^(A)made perfect apart from us.

¹¹ Then a ^(A)white robe was given to each of them; and it was said to them ^(B)that they should rest a little while longer, until both the number of their fellow servants and their brethren, who would be killed as they were, was completed.

Christ’s Death Perfects the Sanctified

¹¹ And every priest stands ^(A)ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. ^12 (B)But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down ^(C)at the right hand of God, ¹³ from that time waiting ^(D)till His enemies are made His footstool. ¹⁴ For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being ^[a]sanctified.

⁶ But now ^(A)He has obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as He is also Mediator of a ^(B)better covenant, which was established on better promises.

¹⁹ for ^(A)the law made nothing ^[a]perfect; on the other hand, there is the bringing in of ^(B)a better hope, through which ^(C)we draw near to God.

Greatness of Christ’s Sacrifice

²³ Therefore it was necessary that ^(A)the copies of the things in the heavens should be ^[a]purified with these, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.

²⁵ whom God set forth ^(A)as a ^[a]propitiation ^(B)by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over ^(C)the sins that were previously committed, ²⁶ to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.

⁸ the Holy Spirit indicating this, that ^(A)the way into the Holiest of All was not yet made manifest while the first tabernacle was still standing. ⁹ It was symbolic for the present time in which both gifts and sacrifices are offered ^(B)which cannot make him who performed the service perfect in regard to the conscience— ¹⁰ concerned only with ^(C)foods and drinks, ^(D)various ^[a]washings, ^(E)and fleshly ordinances imposed until the time of reformation.

The Heavenly Sanctuary

¹¹ But Christ came as High Priest of ^(F)the good things ^[b]to come, with the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands, that is, not of this creation. ¹² Not ^(G)with the blood of goats and calves, but ^(H)with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place ^(I)once for all, ^(J)having obtained eternal redemption. ¹³ For if ^(K)the blood of bulls and goats and ^(L)the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling the unclean, ^[c]sanctifies for the ^[d]purifying of the flesh, ¹⁴ how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without ^[e]spot to God, ^(M)cleanse your conscience from ^(N)dead works ^(O)to serve the living God? ¹⁵ And for this reason ^(P)He is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, that ^(Q)those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.

⁹ And ^(A)having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him,
