^35 (A)Vengeance is mine, and recompense,^{[a]
    (B)}for the time when their foot shall slip;
for ^(C)the day of their calamity is at hand,
    and their doom comes swiftly.’
³⁶ For ^(D)the Lord will vindicate^[b] his people
    ^(E)and have compassion on his servants,
when he sees that their power is gone
    and there is none remaining, ^(F)bond or free.

^2 (A)The Lord is a jealous and avenging God;
    the Lord is avenging and wrathful;
^(B)the Lord takes vengeance on his adversaries
    and ^(C)keeps wrath for his enemies.

^4 (A)He calls to the heavens above
    and to the earth, that he may judge his people:

^14 (A)For the Lord will vindicate his people
    and ^(B)have compassion on his servants.

¹³     before the Lord, for he comes,
    for he comes ^(A)to judge the earth.
He will judge the world in righteousness,
    and the peoples in his faithfulness.
