12 Take care, brothers, lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from (A)the living God. 13 But (B)exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by (C)the deceitfulness of sin. 14 For we have come to share in Christ, (D)if indeed we hold our original confidence firm to the end. 15 As it is said,

(E)“Today, if you hear his voice,
do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.”

16 For (F)who were those who heard and yet rebelled? Was it not (G)all those who left Egypt led by Moses? 17 And with whom was he provoked for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, (H)whose bodies fell in the wilderness? 18 And to whom did he swear that (I)they would not enter his rest, but to those who were disobedient? 19 So we see that (J)they were unable to enter because of unbelief.

Therefore, while the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us fear lest any of you should seem (K)to have failed to reach it.

12 See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God.(A) 13 But encourage one another daily,(B) as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.(C) 14 We have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold(D) our original conviction firmly to the very end.(E) 15 As has just been said:

“Today, if you hear his voice,
    do not harden your hearts
as you did in the rebellion.”[a](F)

16 Who were they who heard and rebelled? Were they not all those Moses led out of Egypt?(G) 17 And with whom was he angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies perished in the wilderness?(H) 18 And to whom did God swear that they would never enter his rest(I) if not to those who disobeyed?(J) 19 So we see that they were not able to enter, because of their unbelief.(K)

A Sabbath-Rest for the People of God

Therefore, since the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be found to have fallen short of it.(L)
