The Lord of armies says this: “[a]Consider your ways! Go up to the [b]mountains, bring wood, and (A)rebuild the [c]temple, that I may be (B)pleased with it and be (C)honored,” says the Lord. (D)You [d]start an ambitious project, but behold, it comes to little; when you bring it home, I (E)blow it away. Why?” declares the Lord of armies. “It is because of My house which (F)remains desolate, while each of you runs to his own house. 10 Therefore, because of you the (G)sky has withheld [e]its dew, and the earth has withheld its produce. 11 And I called for a (H)drought on the land, on the mountains, on the grain, on the new wine, on the oil, on what the ground produces, on (I)mankind, on cattle, and on (J)all the products of the labor of [f]your hands.”

Thus says the Lord of hosts: “Consider your ways! Go up to the (A)mountains and bring wood and build the [a]temple, that I may take pleasure in it and be glorified,” says the Lord. (B)You looked for much, but indeed it came to little; and when you brought it home, (C)I blew it away. Why?” says the Lord of hosts. “Because of My house that is in ruins, while every one of you runs to his own house. 10 Therefore (D)the heavens above you withhold the dew, and the earth withholds its fruit. 11 For I (E)called for a drought on the land and the mountains, on the grain and the new wine and the oil, on whatever the ground brings forth, on men and livestock, and on (F)all the labor of your hands.”
