Thus says Yahweh of hosts, “Set your heart to consider your ways! Go up to the [a]mountains and bring wood and (A)rebuild the house of God, that I may be (B)pleased with it and be (C)glorified,” says Yahweh. (D)You look for much, but behold, it comes to little; and you bring it home, and I (E)blow it away. Why?” declares Yahweh of hosts, “Because of My house which (F)lies waste, while each of you runs to his own house. 10 Therefore, because of you the (G)sky has restrained [b]its dew and the earth has restrained its produce. 11 And I called for a [c](H)drought on the land, on the mountains, on the grain, on the new wine, on the oil, on what the ground brings forth, on (I)men, on cattle, and on (J)all the labor of [d]your hands.”

Thus says Yahweh of hosts: ‘Consider your ways![a] Go up the mountain and bring wood and build the house[b] so that I may be pleased with it and honored,’ says Yahweh. ‘You have looked for much, and look! It came to little; and when you brought it home, I blew it away. Why?’ declares[c] Yahweh of hosts. ‘Because my house is desolate and you are running each to your own house! 10 Therefore, because of you the heavens have withheld the dew and the earth has withheld its produce. 11 I have called for a drought on the land and the hills,[d] on the grain, the new wine, the olive oil, on what the soil produces, on human beings and wild animals,[e] and on all their labor.’”[f]
