Now, therefore, thus says the Lord of hosts: (A)Consider your ways. (B)You have sown much, and harvested little. (C)You eat, but you never have enough; you drink, but you never have your fill. You clothe yourselves, but no one is warm. And he who (D)earns wages does so to put them into a bag with holes.

“Thus says the Lord of hosts: (E)Consider your ways. Go up to the hills and bring wood and build the house, that (F)I may take pleasure in it and that (G)I may be glorified, says the Lord. (H)You looked for much, and behold, it came to little. And when you brought it home, (I)I blew it away. Why? declares the Lord of hosts. Because of my house (J)that lies in ruins, while each of you busies himself with his own house.

Now this is what the Lord Almighty says: “Give careful thought(A) to your ways. You have planted much, but harvested little.(B) You eat, but never have enough.(C) You drink, but never have your fill.(D) You put on clothes, but are not warm. You earn wages,(E) only to put them in a purse with holes in it.”

This is what the Lord Almighty says: “Give careful thought(F) to your ways. Go up into the mountains and bring down timber(G) and build my house, so that I may take pleasure(H) in it and be honored,(I)” says the Lord. “You expected much, but see, it turned out to be little.(J) What you brought home, I blew(K) away. Why?” declares the Lord Almighty. “Because of my house, which remains a ruin,(L) while each of you is busy with your own house.
