⁸ Go up to the hills and bring wood and build the house, that ^(A)I may take pleasure in it and that ^(B)I may be glorified, says the Lord.

⁷ And I will shake all nations, so that the treasures of all nations shall come in, and ^(A)I will fill this house with glory, says the Lord of hosts.

² “Thus says the Lord of hosts: These people say the time has not yet come to rebuild the house of the Lord.” ³ Then the word of the Lord came ^(A)by the hand of Haggai the prophet, ^4 (B)“Is it a time for you yourselves to dwell in your paneled houses, while ^(C)this house lies in ruins?

Jonah Goes to Nineveh

3 Then the word of the Lord came to Jonah the second time, saying, ² “Arise, go to ^(A)Nineveh, that great city, and call out against it the message that I tell you.”

⁷ So they gave money to the masons and the carpenters, ^(A)and food, drink, and oil to the Sidonians and the Tyrians ^(B)to bring cedar trees from Lebanon to the sea, to Joppa, ^(C)according to the grant that they had from Cyrus king of Persia.

^16 (A)For now I have chosen and consecrated this house that my name may be there forever. My eyes and my heart will be there for all time.

⁸ Send me also cedar, cypress, and algum timber from Lebanon, for I know that ^(A)your servants know how to cut timber in Lebanon. And my servants will be with your servants, ⁹ to prepare timber for me in abundance, for the house I am to build will be great and wonderful. ^10 (B)I will give for your servants, the woodsmen who cut timber, 20,000 cors^[a] of crushed wheat, 20,000 cors of barley, 20,000 baths^[b] of wine, and 20,000 baths of oil.”

³ And the Lord said to him, “I have heard your prayer and your plea, which you have made before me. I have consecrated this house that you have built, ^(A)by putting my name there forever. ^(B)My eyes and my heart will be there for all time.
