Habakkuk prays
3 These are the words that the prophet Habakkuk prayed. He used special music to sing it.
2 Lord, I have heard the report about you.
I see the things that you have done, Lord,
and I respect your power.
Please do great things like that again.
Do them again now for us to see.
When you are angry with us,
please still remember to be kind!
3 God is coming from Teman!
The Holy God is coming from Paran mountain.[a]
Selah.
His beautiful power covers the whole sky!
People praise him all over the earth!
4 He is as bright as the sunrise.
His hands throw bright lightning!
That is where he hides his power.
5 As he marches to war,
bad disease marches with him.
6 God stands ready to fight,
and he causes the earth to shake.
He looks at the nations
and they shake with fear.
The very old mountains break into pieces.
The old hills fall down flat.
He travels on roads that have been there for ever.
7 I see the tents where Cushan's people live,
and the people are afraid.
The people in Midian are shaking with fear.
8 Was it the rivers that made you angry, Lord?
Did the sea make you so angry?
You rode on your chariots as horses pulled them!
You rode into battle to win against your enemies.
9 You have prepared your bow.
You are ready to shoot your arrows.
Selah.
You send rivers of water to cut the earth into pieces.
10 The mountains see you and they shake.
Rain pours down from the sky and it causes floods.
The deep sea roars
and it lifts its waves up high.
11 You shoot your bright arrows
so that the sun and the moon stand still in the sky.
Your bright spear flies like lightning,
and the sun and the moon do not move!
12 You angrily march across the earth.
You knock down the armies of the nations,
because you are so angry.
13 You have marched out to rescue your people,
and to save your special servant.[b]
You have knocked down the leader of the wicked nation.
You have removed all his clothes,
from head to foot.
Selah.
14 You threw his own spear into his head,
and you destroyed his army.
When his soldiers rushed out to attack us,
they were laughing.
They thought that they would easily win against us,
as if we were poor, weak people.
15 But you, Lord, marched across the sea with your horses.
You made the waters of the sea shake.
16 I listened to this
and I was very afraid.
My lips shook with fear
when I heard the sound.
My bones became weak.
My legs would not let me walk.
But I will be patient.
I will wait for the day of trouble that will come.
Yes, punishment will come to the people who are attacking us.
17 Whatever happens, I will continue to thank the Lord.
If there are no flowers on the fig trees,
if there are no grapes on the vines,
if there are no olives on the olive trees,
if there are no crops in the fields,
if the sheep are dying in the hills,
if there are no cows on the farms,
18 I will still sing to thank the Lord!
I will be happy because God is the one who makes me safe.[c]
19 The Lord God causes me to be strong.
He makes my feet run safely over the rocks and hills,
like a deer's feet.
This prayer is for the music leader. He must use stringed instruments.

- 3:3 In verses 3-15, Habakkuk says what he sees in a vision.
- 3:13 God's special servant is ‘Messiah’ in Hebrew. It may also mean Israel's king.
- 3:18 Habakkuk says this: Whatever happens he will still praise the Lord. He knows that God still has authority to rule! So he will still praise the Lord, even when bad things are happening.

3 Esta é uma oração do profeta Habacuque, feita em forma de hino.
2 Ó Senhor, ouvi falar do que tens feito
e estou cheio de temor.
Faze agora, em nosso tempo,
as coisas maravilhosas que fizeste no passado,
para que nós também as vejamos.
Mesmo que estejas irado,
tem compaixão de nós!
3 Deus vem vindo da terra de Edom,
o Santo Deus vem do monte Parã.
A sua glória cobre os céus,
e na terra todos o louvam.
4 Ele brilha como a luz,
e raios de luz saltam da sua mão,
onde se esconde o seu poder.
5 Na frente dele vão pragas terríveis,
e atrás vêm doenças mortais.
6 Ele para, e a terra treme;
ele olha para as nações, e elas ficam com medo.
Os montes antigos se abalam,
caem as velhas montanhas
por onde ele tem andado desde a eternidade.
7 Vi que os povos de Cuchã estão aflitos
e que os moradores de Midiã estão com medo.
8 É contra os rios, ó Senhor, que estás irado?
É contra o mar que estás furioso?
É por isso que montas os teus cavalos
e vens vitorioso no teu carro de guerra?
9 Pegas o teu arco
e te preparas para atirar as tuas flechas.
Tu cavas a terra com enchentes.
10 As montanhas te viram e tremeram;
uma tromba-d'água caiu do céu.
As águas debaixo da terra rugiram;
as suas ondas imensas se levantaram.
11 O sol e a lua deixaram de brilhar
quando viram o brilho das tuas flechas
e a luz brilhante da tua lança.
12 Na tua ira, marchaste pela terra inteira,
na tua fúria, pisaste as nações.
13 Saíste para salvar o teu povo,
para salvar o rei que escolheste.
Feriste o chefe dos maus
e acabaste completamente com o seu exército.
14 Com as tuas flechas, mataste o comandante dos soldados
quando avançavam como uma tempestade para nos atacar;
eles vinham orgulhosos, querendo nos destruir
como quem mata um pobre em segredo.
15 Montado nos teus cavalos marchaste pelo mar,
pelas ondas furiosas do mar.
16 Quando ouvi tudo isso, fiquei assustado,
e os meus lábios tremeram de medo.
Perdi todas as forças
e não pude ficar de pé.
Portanto, vou esperar, tranquilo,
o dia em que Deus castigará
aqueles que nos atacam.
17 Ainda que as figueiras não produzam frutas,
e as parreiras não deem uvas;
ainda que não haja azeitonas para apanhar
nem trigo para colher;
ainda que não haja mais ovelhas nos campos
nem gado nos currais,
18 mesmo assim eu darei graças ao Senhor
e louvarei a Deus, o meu Salvador.
19 O Senhor Deus é a minha força.
Ele torna o meu andar firme
como o de uma corça
e me leva para as montanhas,
onde estarei seguro.

他的荣光遮蔽诸天，
颂赞遍满全地。
4 他的辉煌如同日光，
从他手里发出光芒，
那里[c]隐藏他的能力。
5 在他前面有瘟疫流行，
在他脚下有热症发出。
6 他站立，震动[d]大地，
他观看，震动列国。
永久的山崩裂，
长存的岭塌陷，
他的作为与古时一样。
7 我见古珊的帐棚遭难，
米甸地的幔子动摇。
8 耶和华啊，你岂是向江河发怒，
向江河生气，
向海洋发烈怒吗？
你骑在马上，
坐在得胜的战车上，
9 你的弓全然显露[e]，
箭是发誓的言语[f]；（细拉）
你以江河分开大地。
10 山岭见你，无不战抖；
大水泛滥而过，
深渊发声，
汹涌翻腾[g]。
11 因你的箭射出光芒，

日月都停在原处。
12 你发怒遍行大地，
以怒气责打列国，如打谷一般。
13 你出来拯救你的百姓，
拯救你的受膏者；
你打破恶人之家的头，

14 你以其戈矛刺透他战士的头；
他们如旋风将我[i]刮散，
他们喜爱暗中吞吃困苦的人。
15 你骑马践踏海，
践踏汹涌的大水。
17 虽然无花果树不发旺，
葡萄树不结果，
橄榄树也不收成，
田地不出粮食，
圈中绝了羊，
棚内也没有牛；
18 然而，我要因耶和华欢欣，
因救我的 神喜乐。
19 主耶和华是我的力量，
他使我的脚快如母鹿，
又使我稳行在高处。
这歌交给圣咏团长，用丝弦的乐器。

3 A prayer of Habakkuk the prophet. On shigionoth.[a](A)
2 Lord, I have heard(B) of your fame;
I stand in awe(C) of your deeds, Lord.(D)
Repeat(E) them in our day,
in our time make them known;
in wrath remember mercy.(F)
3 God came from Teman,(G)
the Holy One(H) from Mount Paran.[b](I)
His glory covered the heavens(J)
and his praise filled the earth.(K)
4 His splendor was like the sunrise;(L)
rays flashed from his hand,
where his power(M) was hidden.
5 Plague(N) went before him;
pestilence followed his steps.
6 He stood, and shook the earth;
he looked, and made the nations tremble.
The ancient mountains crumbled(O)
and the age-old hills(P) collapsed(Q)—
but he marches on forever.(R)
7 I saw the tents of Cushan in distress,
the dwellings of Midian(S) in anguish.(T)
8 Were you angry with the rivers,(U) Lord?
Was your wrath against the streams?
Did you rage against the sea(V)
when you rode your horses
and your chariots to victory?(W)
9 You uncovered your bow,
you called for many arrows.(X)
You split the earth with rivers;
10 the mountains saw you and writhed.(Y)
Torrents of water swept by;
the deep roared(Z)
and lifted its waves(AA) on high.
11 Sun and moon stood still(AB) in the heavens
at the glint of your flying arrows,(AC)
at the lightning(AD) of your flashing spear.
12 In wrath you strode through the earth
and in anger you threshed(AE) the nations.
13 You came out(AF) to deliver(AG) your people,
to save your anointed(AH) one.
You crushed(AI) the leader of the land of wickedness,
you stripped him from head to foot.
14 With his own spear you pierced his head
when his warriors stormed out to scatter us,(AJ)
gloating as though about to devour
the wretched(AK) who were in hiding.
15 You trampled the sea(AL) with your horses,
churning the great waters.(AM)
16 I heard and my heart pounded,
my lips quivered at the sound;
decay crept into my bones,
and my legs trembled.(AN)
Yet I will wait patiently(AO) for the day of calamity
to come on the nation invading us.
17 Though the fig tree does not bud
and there are no grapes on the vines,
though the olive crop fails
and the fields produce no food,(AP)
though there are no sheep in the pen
and no cattle in the stalls,(AQ)
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord,(AR)
I will be joyful in God my Savior.(AS)
19 The Sovereign Lord is my strength;(AT)
he makes my feet like the feet of a deer,
he enables me to tread on the heights.(AU)
