Habakkuk Rejoices in the Lord

¹⁷Though the fig tree should not blossom,
    nor fruit be on the vines,
the produce of the olive fail
    and the fields yield no food,
the flock be cut off from the fold
    and there be no herd in the stalls,
¹⁸^(A)yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
    ^(B)I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
¹⁹God, the Lord, is my strength;
    ^(C)he makes my feet like the deer's;
    he makes me ^(D)tread on my ^(E)high places.

^(F)To the choirmaster: with ^(G)stringed^[a] instruments.

⁶But ^(A)godliness ^(B)with contentment is great gain, ⁷for ^(C)we brought nothing into the world, and^[a] we cannot take anything out of the world. ⁸But ^(D)if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content. ⁹But ^(E)those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, ^(F)into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that ^(G)plunge people into ruin and destruction. ¹⁰For the love of money is a root of ^(H)all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.
