¹³ To fear the Lord^(A) is to hate evil;^(B)
    I hate^(C) pride and arrogance,
    evil behavior and perverse speech.

⁴ For you are not a God who is pleased with wickedness;
    with you, evil people^(A) are not welcome.
⁵ The arrogant^(B) cannot stand^(C)
    in your presence.
You hate^(D) all who do wrong;
⁶     you destroy those who tell lies.^(E)
The bloodthirsty and deceitful
    you, Lord, detest.
⁷ But I, by your great love,
    can come into your house;
in reverence^(F) I bow down^(G)
    toward your holy temple.^(H)

⁹ Bring to an end the violence of the wicked
    and make the righteous secure—^(A)
you, the righteous God^(B)
    who probes minds and hearts.^(C)

¹⁰ My shield^[a](D) is God Most High,
    who saves the upright in heart.^(E)
11 God is a righteous judge,^(F)
    a God who displays his wrath^(G) every day.
¹² If he does not relent,^(H)
    he^[b] will sharpen his sword;^(I)
    he will bend and string his bow.^(J)

⁷ Your wrath^(A) lies heavily on me;
    you have overwhelmed me with all your waves.^[a](B)

    How often does calamity^(B) come upon them,
    the fate God allots in his anger?^(C)
