Oración de Habacuc
3 Esta oración fue entonada por el profeta Habacuc:[a]
2 «He oído todo acerca de ti, Señor.
Estoy maravillado por tus hechos asombrosos.
En este momento de profunda necesidad,
ayúdanos otra vez como lo hiciste en el pasado.
Y en tu enojo,
recuerda tu misericordia.
3 »¡Veo a Dios cruzando el desierto de Edom;[b]
el Santo viene desde el monte Parán![c]
Su brillante esplendor llena los cielos,
y la tierra se llena de su alabanza.
4 Su llegada es tan radiante como la salida del sol.
Rayos de luz salen de sus manos,
donde se esconde su imponente poder.
5 La pestilencia marcha delante de él;
la plaga lo sigue de cerca.
6 Cuando él se detiene, la tierra se estremece.
Cuando mira, las naciones tiemblan.
Él derrumba las montañas perpetuas
y arrasa las antiguas colinas.
¡Él es el Eterno![d]
7 Veo al pueblo de Cusán en angustia
y a la nación de Madián temblando de terror.

¡No! ¡Enviabas tus carros de salvación!
9 Blandiste tu arco
y tu aljaba de flechas.
Partiste la tierra con caudalosos ríos.
10 Las montañas observaron y temblaron.
Avanzaron las tempestuosas aguas.
Las profundidades del mar rugieron
levantando sus manos en sumisión.
11 El sol y la luna se detuvieron en el cielo
cuando volaron tus radiantes flechas
y brilló tu deslumbrante lanza.
12 »Con enojo marchaste a través de la tierra
y con furor pisoteaste las naciones.
13 Saliste a rescatar a tu pueblo elegido,
a salvar a tus ungidos.
Aplastaste las cabezas de los perversos
y descarnaste sus huesos de pies a cabeza.
14 Con sus propias armas
destruiste al jefe de los que
se lanzaron como un torbellino,
pensando que Israel sería presa fácil.
15 Pisoteaste el mar con tus caballos
y las potentes aguas se amontonaron.
16 »Al oír esto, me estremecí por dentro;
mis labios temblaron de miedo.
Se me doblaron las piernas, caí[e]
y temblé de terror.
Esperaré en silencio el día venidero
cuando la catástrofe golpee al pueblo invasor.
17 Aunque las higueras no florezcan
y no haya uvas en las vides,
aunque se pierda la cosecha de oliva
y los campos queden vacíos y no den fruto,
aunque los rebaños mueran en los campos
y los establos estén vacíos,
18 ¡aun así me alegraré en el Señor!
¡Me gozaré en el Dios de mi salvación!
19 ¡El Señor Soberano es mi fuerza!
Él me da pie firme como al venado,[f]
capaz de pisar sobre las alturas».

3 A prayer of Habakkuk the prophet. On shigionoth.[a](A)
2 Lord, I have heard(B) of your fame;
I stand in awe(C) of your deeds, Lord.(D)
Repeat(E) them in our day,
in our time make them known;
in wrath remember mercy.(F)
3 God came from Teman,(G)
the Holy One(H) from Mount Paran.[b](I)
His glory covered the heavens(J)
and his praise filled the earth.(K)
4 His splendor was like the sunrise;(L)
rays flashed from his hand,
where his power(M) was hidden.
5 Plague(N) went before him;
pestilence followed his steps.
6 He stood, and shook the earth;
he looked, and made the nations tremble.
The ancient mountains crumbled(O)
and the age-old hills(P) collapsed(Q)—
but he marches on forever.(R)
7 I saw the tents of Cushan in distress,
the dwellings of Midian(S) in anguish.(T)
8 Were you angry with the rivers,(U) Lord?
Was your wrath against the streams?
Did you rage against the sea(V)
when you rode your horses
and your chariots to victory?(W)
9 You uncovered your bow,
you called for many arrows.(X)
You split the earth with rivers;
10 the mountains saw you and writhed.(Y)
Torrents of water swept by;
the deep roared(Z)
and lifted its waves(AA) on high.
11 Sun and moon stood still(AB) in the heavens
at the glint of your flying arrows,(AC)
at the lightning(AD) of your flashing spear.
12 In wrath you strode through the earth
and in anger you threshed(AE) the nations.
13 You came out(AF) to deliver(AG) your people,
to save your anointed(AH) one.
You crushed(AI) the leader of the land of wickedness,
you stripped him from head to foot.
14 With his own spear you pierced his head
when his warriors stormed out to scatter us,(AJ)
gloating as though about to devour
the wretched(AK) who were in hiding.
15 You trampled the sea(AL) with your horses,
churning the great waters.(AM)
16 I heard and my heart pounded,
my lips quivered at the sound;
decay crept into my bones,
and my legs trembled.(AN)
Yet I will wait patiently(AO) for the day of calamity
to come on the nation invading us.
17 Though the fig tree does not bud
and there are no grapes on the vines,
though the olive crop fails
and the fields produce no food,(AP)
though there are no sheep in the pen
and no cattle in the stalls,(AQ)
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord,(AR)
I will be joyful in God my Savior.(AS)
19 The Sovereign Lord is my strength;(AT)
he makes my feet like the feet of a deer,
he enables me to tread on the heights.(AU)

2 O Lord, I have heard thy speech, and was afraid: O Lord, revive thy work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy.
3 God came from Teman, and the Holy One from mount Paran. Selah. His glory covered the heavens, and the earth was full of his praise.
4 And his brightness was as the light; he had horns coming out of his hand: and there was the hiding of his power.
5 Before him went the pestilence, and burning coals went forth at his feet.
6 He stood, and measured the earth: he beheld, and drove asunder the nations; and the everlasting mountains were scattered, the perpetual hills did bow: his ways are everlasting.
7 I saw the tents of Cushan in affliction: and the curtains of the land of Midian did tremble.
8 Was the Lord displeased against the rivers? was thine anger against the rivers? was thy wrath against the sea, that thou didst ride upon thine horses and thy chariots of salvation?
9 Thy bow was made quite naked, according to the oaths of the tribes, even thy word. Selah. Thou didst cleave the earth with rivers.
10 The mountains saw thee, and they trembled: the overflowing of the water passed by: the deep uttered his voice, and lifted up his hands on high.
11 The sun and moon stood still in their habitation: at the light of thine arrows they went, and at the shining of thy glittering spear.
12 Thou didst march through the land in indignation, thou didst thresh the heathen in anger.
13 Thou wentest forth for the salvation of thy people, even for salvation with thine anointed; thou woundedst the head out of the house of the wicked, by discovering the foundation unto the neck. Selah.
14 Thou didst strike through with his staves the head of his villages: they came out as a whirlwind to scatter me: their rejoicing was as to devour the poor secretly.
15 Thou didst walk through the sea with thine horses, through the heap of great waters.
16 When I heard, my belly trembled; my lips quivered at the voice: rottenness entered into my bones, and I trembled in myself, that I might rest in the day of trouble: when he cometh up unto the people, he will invade them with his troops.
17 Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls:
18 Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation.
19 The Lord God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds' feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places. To the chief singer on my stringed instruments.
