¹⁷ For ^(A)in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, ^(B)“The just shall live by faith.”

¹¹ But that no one is ^[a]justified by the law in the sight of God is evident, for ^(A)“the just shall live by faith.” ¹² Yet ^(B)the law is not of faith, but ^(C)“the man who does them shall live by them.”

^16 (A)knowing that a man is not ^[a]justified by the works of the law but ^(B)by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not ^(C)by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.

^36 (A)He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the ^(B)wrath of God abides on him.”

¹⁰ He who believes in the Son of God ^(A)has the witness in himself; he who does not believe God ^(B)has made Him a liar, because he has not believed the testimony that God has given of His Son. ¹¹ And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. ^12 (C)He who has the Son has ^[a]life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.

¹⁴ I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; ^(A)for everyone who exalts himself will be ^[a]humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

^20 (A)But when his heart was lifted up, and his spirit was hardened in pride, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him. ²¹ Then he was ^(B)driven from the sons of men, his heart was made like the beasts, and his dwelling was with the wild donkeys. They fed him with grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, ^(C)till he ^[a]knew that the Most High God rules in the kingdom of men, and appoints over it whomever He chooses.

²² “But you his son, Belshazzar, ^(D)have not humbled your heart, although you knew all this. ^23 (E)And you have ^[b]lifted yourself up against the Lord of heaven. They have brought the ^(F)vessels of ^[c]His house before you, and you and your lords, your wives and your concubines, have drunk wine from them. And you have praised the gods of silver and gold, bronze and iron, wood and stone, ^(G)which do not see or hear or know; and the God who holds your breath in His hand ^(H)and owns all your ways, you have not glorified.
