Jesus the Great High Priest

14 Since then we have (A)a great high priest (B)who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, (C)let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a high priest (D)who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been (E)tempted as we are, (F)yet without sin. 16 (G)Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

For every high priest chosen from among men (H)is appointed to act on behalf of men (I)in relation to God, (J)to offer gifts and sacrifices for sins. (K)He can deal gently with the ignorant and wayward, since he himself (L)is beset with weakness. Because of this he is obligated to offer sacrifice for his own sins (M)just as he does for those of the people.

Bear One Another's Burdens

Brothers,[a] (A)if anyone is caught in any transgression, (B)you who are spiritual should restore him in (C)a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted. (D)Bear one another's burdens, and (E)so fulfill (F)the law of Christ. For (G)if anyone thinks he is something, (H)when he is nothing, he deceives himself. But let each one (I)test his own work, and then his reason to boast will be in himself alone and not in his neighbor. For (J)each will have to bear his own load.

14 (A)But even if you should suffer for righteousness' sake, you will be blessed. (B)Have no fear of them, (C)nor be troubled, 15 but (D)in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, (E)always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and (F)respect, 16 (G)having a good conscience, so that, (H)when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame. 17 For (I)it is better to suffer for doing good, if that should be God's will, than for doing evil.

18 For Christ also (J)suffered[a] (K)once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, (L)that he might bring us to God, being put to death (M)in the flesh but made alive (N)in the spirit,
