La Nuova Diodati
1 Giuda, servo di Gesú Cristo e fratello di Giacomo, ai chiamati che sono santificati in Dio Padre e custoditi in Cristo Gesú:
2 misericordia, pace e amore vi siano moltiplicati.
3 Carissimi, anche se avevo una grande premura di scrivervi circa la nostra comune salvezza, sono stato obbligato a farlo per esortarvi a combattere strenuamente per la fede, che è stata trasmessa una volta per sempre ai santi.
4 Si sono infatti infiltrati tra di voi certi uomini, che sono stati da tempo designati per questa condanna, empi che mutano la grazia del nostro Dio in immoralità e negano l'unico Padrone Dio e il Signor nostro Gesú Cristo.
5 Or voglio ricordare a voi, che già conoscevate tutto questo, che il Signore, dopo aver salvato il suo popolo dal paese di Egitto, in seguito fece perire quelli che non credettero.
6 Egli ha pure rinchiuso nelle tenebre dell'inferno con catene eterne, per il giudizio del gran giorno, gli angeli che non conservarono il loro primiero stato ma che lasciarono la loro propria dimora.
7 Proprio come Sodoma e Gomorra e le città vicine, che come loro si erano abbandonate alla fornicazione e si erano date a perversioni sessuali contro natura, sono state poste davanti come esempio, subendo la pena di un fuoco eterno;
8 allo stesso modo questi sognatori contaminano anch'essi la carne, respingono l'autorità e parlano male delle dignità.
9 Invece l'arcangelo Michele, quando in contesa col diavolo disputava intorno al corpo di Mosé, non osò lanciargli contro un giudizio oltraggioso, ma disse: «Ti sgridi il Signore!».
10 Ma costoro parlano male di tutte le cose che non comprendono; tutte le cose invece, che come animali irragionevoli conoscono naturalmente, diventano per essi motivo di rovina.
11 Guai a loro, perché si sono incamminati per la via di Caino e per lucro si sono buttati nella perversione di Balaamb e sono periti nella ribellione di Kore.
12 Costoro sono macchie nelle vostre agapi, mentre banchettano assieme a voi senza timore, pascendo se stessi; essi sono nuvole senz'acqua, sospinte qua e là dai venti, alberi d'autunno senza frutti, doppiamente morti, sradicati,
13 onde furiose del mare che vomitano la schiuma delle loro brutture, stelle erranti a cui è riservata la caligine delle tenebre infernali per sempre.
14 Ebbene, per loro profetizzò anche Enok, il settimo da Adamo, dicendo: «Ecco, il Signore è venuto con le sue sante miriadi,
15 per far giudizio contro tutti e per convincere tutti gli empi di tutte le opere d'empietà che hanno commesso empiamente e di tutte le parole offensive che gli empi peccatori hanno proferito contro di lui».
16 Costoro sono mormoratori, scontenti, che camminano secondo le loro passioni; per di piú la loro bocca proferisce cose oltremodo gonfie e adulano le persone per l'utilità propria.
17 Ma voi, carissimi, ricordatevi delle parole che gli apostoli del Signore nostro Gesú Cristo hanno predetto.
18 Essi vi dicevano che nell'ultimo tempo vi saranno degli schernitori che seguiranno le loro empie passioni.
19 Costoro sono quelli che causano le divisioni, gente carnale, che non ha lo Spirito.
20 Ma voi, carissimi, edificando voi stessi sulla vostra santissima fede, pregando nello Spirito Santo,
21 conservatevi nell'amore di Dio, aspettando la misericordia del Signore nostro Gesú Cristo, in vista della vita eterna.
22 E abbiate compassione degli uni usando discernimento.
23 ma salvate gli altri con timore, strappandoli dal fuoco, odiando perfino la veste contaminata dalla carne.
24 Or a colui che può salvaguardarvi da ogni caduta e farvi comparire davanti alla sua gloria irreprensibili e con grande gioia,
25 all'unico Dio sapiente, il nostro Salvatore, sia gloria, grandezza dominio e potestà, da ora e per tutte le età. Amen.

Warnings About False Teachers

To all who have been called by God. God the Father loves you, and you have been kept safe in Jesus Christ.
2 All mercy, peace, and love be yours.
God Will Punish Sinners
3 Dear friends, I wanted very much to write to you about the salvation we all share together. But I felt the need to write to you about something else: I want to encourage you to fight hard for the faith that God gave his holy people. God gave this faith once, and it is good for all time. 4 Some people have secretly entered your group. They have already been judged guilty for the things they are doing. Long ago the prophets wrote about these people. They are against God. They have used the grace of our God in the wrong way—to do sinful things. They refuse to accept Jesus Christ, our only Master and Lord.
5 I want to remind you of some things that you already know: Remember that the Lord[a] saved his people by bringing them out of the land of Egypt. But later the Lord destroyed all those who did not believe. 6 And remember the angels who had power but did not keep it. They left their own home. So the Lord has kept these angels in darkness. They are bound with everlasting chains, to be judged on the great day. 7 Also remember the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah[b] and the other towns around them. They acted as the angels who did not obey God. Their towns were full of sexual sin and men having physical relations with men. They suffer the punishment of eternal fire, as an example for all to see.
8 It is the same with these people who have entered your group. They are guided by dreams. They make themselves dirty with sin. They reject God’s authority and say bad things against the glorious angels. 9 Not even the archangel[c] Michael did this. He argued with the devil about who would have the body of Moses. Michael did not dare to accuse the devil with insults. He said, “The Lord punish you.” 10 But these people say bad things about what they do not understand. They do understand some things. But they understand them not by thinking, but by feeling, the way dumb animals understand things. And these are the very things that destroy them. 11 It will be bad for them. They have followed the way that Cain went. To make money, they have given themselves to doing the wrong that Balaam did. They have fought against God as Korah did. And like Korah, they will be destroyed. 12 They are like dirty spots in the special meals you share together. They eat with you and have no fear. They take care of only themselves. They are clouds without rain. The wind blows them around. They are trees that have no fruit when it is time and are pulled out of the ground. So they are dead two times. 13 They are like wild waves in the sea. These people do shameful things in the same way waves make foam. They are like stars that wander in the sky. A place in the blackest darkness has been kept for them forever.
14 Enoch, the seventh descendant from Adam, said this about these people: “Look, the Lord is coming with thousands and thousands of his holy angels. 15 The Lord will judge every person. He is coming to judge everyone and to punish all who are against God. He will punish them for all the evil they have done against him. And he will punish the sinners who are against God. He will punish them for all the evil things they have said against him.”
16 These people always complain and blame others. They always do the evil things they want to do. They brag about themselves. The only reason they say good things about other people is to get what they want.
A Warning and Things to Do
17 Dear friends, remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ said before. 18 They said to you, “In the last times there will be people who laugh about God. They will do only what they want to do—things that are against God.” 19 These are the people who divide you. They do only what their sinful selves want. They do not have the Spirit.
20 But dear friends, use your most holy faith to build yourselves up strong. Pray with the Holy Spirit. 21 Keep yourselves in God’s love. Wait for the Lord Jesus Christ with his mercy to give you life forever.
22 Show mercy to people who have doubts. 23 Save them. Take them out of the fire. Show mercy mixed with fear to others. Hate even their clothes which are dirty from sin.
Praise God
24 God is strong and can help you not to fall. He can bring you before his glory without any wrong in you and give you great joy. 25 He is the only God. He is the One who saves us. To him be glory, greatness, power, and authority through Jesus Christ our Lord for all time past, now, and forever. Amen.
