19 Allora Pilato prese Gesú e lo fece flagellare.
2 E i soldati, intrecciata una corona di spine, gliela posero sul capo e gli misero addosso un manto di porpora
3 e dicevano: «Salve, o re dei Giudei»; e lo schiaffeggiavano.
4 Poi Pilato uscí di nuovo e disse loro: «Ecco, io ve lo conduco fuori, affinché sappiate che non trovo in lui alcuna colpa».
5 Gesú dunque uscí, portando la corona di spine e il manto di porpora. E Pilato disse loro: «Ecco l'uomo!».
6 Ora, quando lo videro i capi sacerdoti e le guardie, si misero a gridare, dicendo: «Crocifiggilo, crocifiggilo». Pilato disse loro: «Prendetelo voi e crocifiggetelo, perché io non trovo in lui colpa alcuna».
7 I Giudei gli risposero: «Noi abbiamo una legge e secondo la nostra legge egli deve morire, perché si è fatto Figlio di Dio».
8 Quando Pilato udí queste parole, ebbe ancor piú paura;
9 e, rientrato nel pretorio, disse a Gesú: «Di dove sei tu?». Ma Gesú non gli diede alcuna risposta.
10 Pilato perciò gli disse: «Non mi parli? Non sai che io ho il potere di crocifiggerti e il potere di liberarti?».
11 Gesú rispose: «Tu non avresti alcun potere su di me se non ti fosse dato dall'alto; perciò chi mi ha consegnato nelle tue mani ha maggior colpa».
12 Da quel momento Pilato cercava di liberarlo; ma i Giudei gridavano, dicendo: «Se liberi costui, tu non sei amico di Cesare; chiunque si fa re, si oppone a Cesare».
13 Pilato dunque, udite queste parole, condusse fuori Gesú e si pose a sedere in tribunale nel luogo detto "Lastrico", e in ebraico "Gabbata";
14 or era la preparazione della Pasqua, ed era circa l'ora sesta; e disse ai Giudei: «Ecco il vostro re».
15 Ma essi gridarono: «Via, via, crocifiggilo». Pilato disse loro: «Crocifiggerò il vostro re?». I capi dei sacerdoti risposero: «Noi non abbiamo altro re che Cesare».
16 Allora egli lo diede nelle loro mani affinché fosse crocifisso. Ed essi presero Gesú e lo condussero via.
17 Ed egli, portando la sua croce, si avviò verso il luogo detto "del Teschio" che in ebraico si chiama "Golgota",
18 dove lo crocifissero, e con lui due altri, uno di qua e l'altro di là, e Gesú nel mezzo.
19 Or Pilato fece anche un'iscrizione e la pose sulla croce, e vi era scritto: "GESU' IL NAZARENO, IL RE DEI GIUDEI".
20 Cosí molti dei Giudei lessero questa iscrizione, perché il luogo dove Gesú fu crocifisso era vicino alla città, e quella era scritta in ebraico, in greco e in latino.
21 Perciò i capi dei sacerdoti dei Giudei dissero a Pilato: «Non scrivere: "Il re dei Giudei", ma che egli ha detto: "Io sono il re dei Giudei".
22 Pilato rispose: «Ciò che ho scritto, ho scritto».
23 Or i soldati, quando ebbero crocifisso Gesú, presero le sue vesti e ne fecero quattro parti, una parte per ciascun soldato, e la tunica. Ma la tunica era senza cuciture, tessuta d'un sol pezzo da cima a fondo.
24 Dissero dunque fra di loro: «Non stracciamola, ma tiriamola a sorte per decidere di chi sarà»; e ciò affinché si adempisse la Scrittura, che dice: «Hanno spartito fra di loro le mie vesti, e hanno tirato a sorte la mia tunica». I soldati dunque fecero queste cose.
25 Or presso la croce di Gesú stavano sua madre e la sorella di sua madre, Maria di Cleopa e Maria Maddalena.
26 Gesú allora, vedendo sua madre e presso di lei il discepolo che egli amava, disse a sua madre: «Donna, ecco tuo figlio!».
27 Poi disse al discepolo: «Ecco tua madre!». E da quel momento il discepolo l'accolse in casa sua.
28 Dopo questo, sapendo Gesú che ogni cosa era ormai compiuta, affinché si adempisse la Scrittura, disse: «Ho sete».
29 Or c'era là un vaso pieno d'aceto. Inzuppata dunque una spugna nell'aceto e postala in cima ad un ramo d'issopo gliela accostarono alla bocca.
30 Quando Gesú ebbe preso l'aceto disse: «E' compiuto». E, chinato il capo, rese lo spirito.
31 Or i Giudei, essendo il giorno di Preparazione, affinché i corpi non rimanessero sulla croce il sabato, perché quel sabato era un giorno di particolare importanza, chiesero a Pilato che fossero loro spezzate le gambe e fossero portati via.
32 I soldati dunque vennero e spezzarono le gambe al primo e poi anche all'altro, che era crocifisso con lui;
33 ma, arrivati a Gesú, come videro che era già morto, non gli spezzarono le gambe,
34 ma uno dei soldati gli trafisse il costato con una lancia, e subito ne uscí sangue ed acqua.
35 E colui che ha visto ne ha reso testimonianza e la sua testimonianza è verace, ed egli sa che dice il vero, affinché voi crediate.
36 Queste cose infatti sono accadute affinché si adempisse la Scrittura: «Non gli sarà spezzato alcun osso».
37 E ancora un'altra Scrittura dice: «Volgeranno lo sguardo a colui che hanno trafitto».
38 Dopo queste cose, Giuseppe d'Arimatea che era discepolo di Gesú, ma di nascosto per timore dei Giudei, chiese a Pilato di poter prendere il corpo di Gesú; e Pilato glielo permise. Egli dunque venne e prese il corpo di Gesú.
39 Or venne anche Nicodemo, che in precedenza era andato di notte da Gesú, portando una mistura di mirra e di aloe di circa cento libbre.
40 Essi dunque presero il corpo di Gesú e lo avvolsero in panni di lino con gli aromi, secondo il costume di sepoltura in uso presso i Giudei.
41 Or nel luogo dove egli fu crocifisso c'era un orto, e nell'orto un sepolcro nuovo nel quale non era ancora stato posto nessuno.
42 Lí dunque, a motivo del giorno di Preparazione dei Giudei, misero Gesú perché il sepolcro era vicino.

– Напиши не «Царь иудеев»[g], а что Он заявлял, будто Он Царь иудеев.
22 – Что я написал, то написал, – ответил Пилат.
23 Когда воины распяли Иисуса, они взяли Его верхнюю одежду и разделили на четыре части, каждому по одной. Рубашка Иисуса была без швов, сотканная целиком.
24 – Не будем ее рвать, – решили они, – бросим лучше жребий и посмотрим, кому она достанется.
Это случилось во исполнение сказанного в Писании:
«Они разделили между собой Мои одежды,
и бросали жребий о Моем одеянии»[h].
Солдаты это исполнили.
25 Недалеко от креста Иисуса стояли Его мать, сестра матери, Мария – жена Клеопы и Мария Магдалина. 26 Иисус увидел Свою мать и Своего любимого ученика, стоявшего рядом с ней.
– О женщина[i], вот твой сын, – сказал Иисус матери.
27 Своему же ученику Он сказал:
– Вот твоя мать.
С этого времени ученик этот взял ее к себе в дом.
Иисус умирает на кресте(B)
28 После того Иисус, зная, что все уже совершилось, и чтобы исполнилось Писание, сказал:
– Хочу пить.
29 Там стоял кувшин с кислым вином, и солдаты, обмакнув в него губку, надели ее на стебель иссопа[j] и поднесли к губам Иисуса[k]. 30 Иисус попробовал вино и сказал:
– Совершилось!
Сказав это, Он уронил голову на грудь и предал дух.
31 Была пятница, и иудеи не хотели, чтобы тела оставались на крестах в субботу, тем более, что эта суббота была днем великого праздника. 38 После этого Иосиф из Аримафеи попросил Пилата отдать ему тело Иисуса. Иосиф был учеником Иисуса, но тайным, из страха перед иудеями. С позволения Пилата он пришел и забрал тело. 39 С Иосифом был Никодим, который как-то приходил к Иисусу ночью. Никодим принес смесь из смирны и алоэ[o], литр около ста[p]. 40 Они сняли тело Иисуса и завернули его вместе с бальзамом в пелены из льняной ткани. Таков был иудейский погребальный обычай. 41 Там, где Иисуса распяли, был сад, и в саду – новая гробница, где еще никого не хоронили. 42 Так как это была пятница – день приготовления к Пасхе, а гробница была рядом, то они положили там Иисуса.

Jesus Sentenced to Be Crucified(A)
19 Then Pilate took Jesus and had him flogged.(B) 2 The soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on his head. They clothed him in a purple robe 3 and went up to him again and again, saying, “Hail, king of the Jews!”(C) And they slapped him in the face.(D)
4 Once more Pilate came out and said to the Jews gathered there, “Look, I am bringing him out(E) to you to let you know that I find no basis for a charge against him.”(F) 5 When Jesus came out wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe,(G) Pilate said to them, “Here is the man!”
6 As soon as the chief priests and their officials saw him, they shouted, “Crucify! Crucify!”
But Pilate answered, “You take him and crucify him.(H) As for me, I find no basis for a charge against him.”(I)
7 The Jewish leaders insisted, “We have a law, and according to that law he must die,(J) because he claimed to be the Son of God.”(K)
8 When Pilate heard this, he was even more afraid, 9 and he went back inside the palace.(L) “Where do you come from?” he asked Jesus, but Jesus gave him no answer.(M) 10 “Do you refuse to speak to me?” Pilate said. “Don’t you realize I have power either to free you or to crucify you?”
11 Jesus answered, “You would have no power over me if it were not given to you from above.(N) Therefore the one who handed me over to you(O) is guilty of a greater sin.”
12 From then on, Pilate tried to set Jesus free, but the Jewish leaders kept shouting, “If you let this man go, you are no friend of Caesar. Anyone who claims to be a king(P) opposes Caesar.”
13 When Pilate heard this, he brought Jesus out and sat down on the judge’s seat(Q) at a place known as the Stone Pavement (which in Aramaic(R) is Gabbatha). 14 It was the day of Preparation(S) of the Passover; it was about noon.(T)
“Here is your king,”(U) Pilate said to the Jews.
15 But they shouted, “Take him away! Take him away! Crucify him!”
“Shall I crucify your king?” Pilate asked.
“We have no king but Caesar,” the chief priests answered.
16 Finally Pilate handed him over to them to be crucified.(V)
The Crucifixion of Jesus(W)
So the soldiers took charge of Jesus. 17 Carrying his own cross,(X) he went out to the place of the Skull(Y) (which in Aramaic(Z) is called Golgotha). 18 There they crucified him, and with him two others(AA)—one on each side and Jesus in the middle.
19 Pilate had a notice prepared and fastened to the cross. It read: jesus of nazareth,(AB) the king of the jews.(AC) 20 Many of the Jews read this sign, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city,(AD) and the sign was written in Aramaic, Latin and Greek. 21 The chief priests of the Jews protested to Pilate, “Do not write ‘The King of the Jews,’ but that this man claimed to be king of the Jews.”(AE)
22 Pilate answered, “What I have written, I have written.”
23 When the soldiers crucified Jesus, they took his clothes, dividing them into four shares, one for each of them, with the undergarment remaining. This garment was seamless, woven in one piece from top to bottom.
24 “Let’s not tear it,” they said to one another. “Let’s decide by lot who will get it.”
This happened that the scripture might be fulfilled(AF) that said,
So this is what the soldiers did.
25 Near the cross(AH) of Jesus stood his mother,(AI) his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.(AJ) 26 When Jesus saw his mother(AK) there, and the disciple whom he loved(AL) standing nearby, he said to her, “Woman,[b] here is your son,” 27 and to the disciple, “Here is your mother.” From that time on, this disciple took her into his home.
The Death of Jesus(AM)
28 Later, knowing that everything had now been finished,(AN) and so that Scripture would be fulfilled,(AO) Jesus said, “I am thirsty.” 29 A jar of wine vinegar(AP) was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus’ lips. 30 When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.”(AQ) With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
31 Now it was the day of Preparation,(AR) and the next day was to be a special Sabbath. Because the Jewish leaders did not want the bodies left on the crosses(AS) during the Sabbath, they asked Pilate to have the legs broken and the bodies taken down. 32 The soldiers therefore came and broke the legs of the first man who had been crucified with Jesus, and then those of the other.(AT) 33 But when they came to Jesus and found that he was already dead, they did not break his legs. 34 Instead, one of the soldiers pierced(AU) Jesus’ side with a spear, bringing a sudden flow of blood and water.(AV) 35 The man who saw it(AW) has given testimony, and his testimony is true.(AX) He knows that he tells the truth, and he testifies so that you also may believe. 36 These things happened so that the scripture would be fulfilled:(AY) “Not one of his bones will be broken,”[c](AZ) 37 and, as another scripture says, “They will look on the one they have pierced.”[d](BA)
The Burial of Jesus(BB)
38 Later, Joseph of Arimathea asked Pilate for the body of Jesus. Now Joseph was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly because he feared the Jewish leaders.(BC) With Pilate’s permission, he came and took the body away. 39 He was accompanied by Nicodemus,(BD) the man who earlier had visited Jesus at night. Nicodemus brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about seventy-five pounds.[e] 40 Taking Jesus’ body, the two of them wrapped it, with the spices, in strips of linen.(BE) This was in accordance with Jewish burial customs.(BF) 41 At the place where Jesus was crucified, there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb, in which no one had ever been laid. 42 Because it was the Jewish day of Preparation(BG) and since the tomb was nearby,(BH) they laid Jesus there.
